Big Four Gravel Work Improves Railroad Street Nice Job

The Big Four Railroad company led by sectionmaster McNealy has gravelled Railroad street from Main to near East street. The crew hauled and laid a large amount of gravel, earning praise from Batesville for the fine workmanship. Mrs. Peter Gookins and children, visiting relatives here, head to Tipton county after stopping in Colorado. Mike Gauck, formerly near Napoleon, buys 155 acres near St. Peters to farm independently. Mrs. Wesley Schultz travels to Cincinnati with her sister-in-law and nephew for a visit.

Dies at Ripe Old Age in Batesville

Mrs. Susan Coman died at her son in law James Ray’s Batesville residence on Saturday June 8 aged 81 years 5 months and 11 days. Funeral services were held at the home Monday noon conducted by Rev. G W Bowers before the burial in Rossburg. Attendees included relatives from Indianapolis Elwood Connersville and Penntown as well as local residents. Mrs Coman, born in England on December 27 1825, is survived by four children two daughters and one son.
