No Flight at Fair and Crop Boost for Basin

County Weighs Bridge Bid Awarded to Great Northern Co

The county commissioners awarded a $13,000 bridge contract to Great Northern Bridge Co of Minneapolis for a 220 foot two span steel structure over the Grey Bull south of Burlington. H. G. Whitmore represented the company at the meeting. Methodist services at First M E Church include Sunday 11 am and 7:30 pm, Sunday school 10 am, and Thursday prayer meeting at 3 pm.

Thrown From Horse Injures Rider at Fair Grounds

Jack Thomas, employed by A H Church near Hyattville, was thrown during a saddle horse race Friday at the fair grounds and landed on his head. He was taken to Basin hospital with possible concussion and serious injuries. A team ran away during the incident but was stopped before major damage.

Fair board cancels program at grounds with public viewing

At the meeting this morning the fair board decided no program would be held today at the fair grounds as all race horses have appeared and races would have little value. The grounds will be open to the public for viewing the agricultural exhibits and a dance will be given by the fair board in the Walters building tonight.

Better Than State Fair Flier Mars Skips Douglas Flight

Report from Douglas notes Bud Mars the noted aviator did not appear for his airplane flights at the state fair, resulting in no demonstrations. County fairgoers enjoyed watching the machine perform despite it not flying, a contrast to the state fair crowd.

J T Robertson brother of O J Robertson who visited for weeks has returned to Harrison county Missouri. He was impressed with the country and fair products and plans to sell holdings in Missouri to invest here in the coming year.

No Trace Of Brown After Hospital Escape

The sheriff's office has no trace of Steve Brown who escaped from the hospital this morning. Authorities believe an outside confederate aided his escape and removal from the leg irons and iron bed. Deputies scour counties, chase clues, and sent word nationwide. Capture expected within days.

Lumber Secretaries Bureau Charged in Anti trust Suit

The United States files an anti trust suit in Denver alleging the lumber trust controls labor trade in at least 20 states through a central Chicago agency called the Lumber Secretaries Bureau. It accuses espionage by paid spies and blacklists and seeks injunctions against the bureau and the Colorado and Wyoming Lumber Dealers Association.

Amputated Leg After Horse Accident in Basin Hospital

John Cooper of Greybull underwent amputation of a leg yesterday at Basin Hospital by Dr. Carter. He had earlier injuries to the leg with bones and a plate, but the diseased condition made saving the limb impossible. The operation was successful and recovery is expected to be rapid.
