The Worland high school baseball team meets the local squad on Basin diamond this afternoon at 3 o clock. A good game is promised and fans are urged to attend and cheer the players. Admission is 26 cents.

High School Divides for Literary Work and Staff Updates

The Worland high school divides into two sections for literary work. Officers elected include Leland Cloud president Phoebe English secretary and Freda Connor treasurer. Miss Bernie Million will teach mathematics and science. The first program is set for Oct. 10 with Miss Alice Thayer assisting in domestic science. A baseball game with Worland high is scheduled Friday at 3 pm with admission 25 cents. New entrants include Margie Aker Orson Tolman Rutledge Tolman Pearl Sanders Leland Cloud Wayne Hanlon Georgia Johnson and Ansel Dickman.

Antelope and North Bend Drainage Projects Progress

W B Edwards reports start of construction on the Antelope project and drainage work on the Helphrey place at 12 feet depth. A North Bench notice publication delay occurred but work will resume soon. Edwards aims to speed up as tile becomes available and other projects show progress.

Fractured Leg From Fall At Medicine Lodge

Elmer Barrett of G Hartigan on Medicine Lodge sustained a fractured left leg in two places when a horse he was riding fell last week. Drs Harris & Harris reduced the fracture and it will likely be a month before he rides again.

State awards royalty oil contract to Midwest Refining

Wyoming grants Midwest Refining three year control of royalty oil from Salt Creek Lance Creek Rock Creek Big Muddy Elk Basin and Warm Springs fields. Refinery to be expanded at Casper and Laramie with a $2.5 million upgrade, refine Wyoming oil, pay minimum $1.50 per barrel, and fund highway construction.

Married Last Sunday in Rural Oklahoma

Miss Minnie Hauser and Richard J. Hall were united in marriage last Sunday at the bride's parents home near Otto. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. Wardlaw. They will reside in Bartlesville. The groom, formerly a machinist at Leidecker Tool Co Basin plant, now works in Oklahoma City. The bride has worked at Martin bakery. Friends extend best wishes.

Earl Dragoo, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E B Dragoo, returned from overseas service last Saturday. He bears battle scars from the fight with the Huns and will carry them as permanent marks of his wartime activity.

Sweeny Swamps Gulf States Toll Grows Clear

Fifteen more storm victims were brought to Corpus Christi as the death toll in this city reached sixty two. Total known dead across Port Aransas Rockport White Point and Corpus Christi neared 8160 with estimates for the Texas coast at about 250. Rescue crews battled rain and wreckage as officials warned the final toll would exceed 100 and could reach 200 to 300 with hundreds injured. Property losses were placed between ten and fifteen million dollars.

Engineer in Basin Inspects Grade Crossing Elimination Plan

Chief Engineer Z E Levison of the State Highway Department toured nearby projects this week in Basin. He examined the Burlington railroad grade crossing at Kirby on Yellowstone highway and discussed plans to eliminate such crossings with railroad officials.

Infant Daughter Dies Shortly After Birth

A daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. T. 8. Armstrong at Basin hospital lived only a few hours. Funeral services were conducted Sunday by Dean Watkins, with interment in Mount View cemetery. The town mourns with the grieving parents. El Hime Bros completed a new floor at the Ol’ Exchange pool hall in Mvessra. McClain plans additional improvements soon. Local lodge O. O. F. members attended a lodge meeting in Greybull last night.
