Basin Wins From Powell In Hard Fought Conference Tilt

Basin beat Powell 27 to 18 in a hard fought conference contest at Basin. Basin jumped to leads with early touchdowns, Powell answered with two late first half scores, and Basin pulled away in the second half to secure the victory. Beall Deveraux and Burroughs stood out with strong plays as Basin claimed a step toward the title.

Seniors elect officers and ring selections noted

Thermopolis and Cowley idle last week Powell fell 27 to 18 to Basin. Greybull beat Cody 48 to 0 while Worland lost 34 to 26 to Lovell. Senior class elected Wayne Hanlon president Eileen Rosenberry vice president Miriam Ewers secretary treasurer and chose class rings from Autery Bros. of Greeley samples displayed by a salesman Cole.

Y. W. C. A. Girls to Casper Conference

On Friday October 20 the Y W C A Cabinet and advisers leave for Cooper to attend a conference. They expect new plans to aid their immodation and will return on Monday.

McAdoo Speaks on Ties and Trade at Wyoming Visit

W. G. McAdoo former director general of railroads spoke from a train here Tuesday focusing on long term credits at low rates and higher exports to foreign markets to address a surplus. He praised the Wyoming delegation and urged Kendrick's Senate retention, with a Greybull stop featuring a longer address. A large crowd gathered there, while Basin saw only a small turnout.

Metz Court Schedules Civil Docket Hearings Tomorrow

Sugar Beets Money Crop in Lovell Plant Reports

Lovell sugar beet growers benefited from last year's contract with Great Western Sugar. Superintendent F Johnson notes the contract netted about seven dollars per ton and that this year's beets show higher sugar content and yield.

Weston predicts large GOP victory in Big Horn region

H R Weston of Cheyenne spends a week in the Big Horn area promoting the Republican ticket. He asserts the party will win by a large majority in this and neighboring counties on November 7. Weston also believes Mondell and Hay will carry the state by wide margins while attending to personal business and visiting friends.

Operation on Monday for Byron legislator Neville

Hon Joseph H Neville of Byron underwent bladder surgery Monday at Basin hospital. Surgeons Harris assisted by Croft of Cowley. Despite being over seventy he withstood the shock and is expected to recover rapidly barring complications. Friends countywide wish his speedy return to health.

Mrs. R. G. Belton was hostess on Wednesday at a Kensington for the local Rebekah lodge members. Delightful refreshments were served before the departure of the guests and all reports very fine time.

Must Register Next Week For Election

Registration board meets at the courthouse next Thursday and Friday to revise and complete the registration list for the November 7 election. To vote, registration is required. those missing these two days cannot vote unless absent from the precinct or physically unable to attend. Board stays in the commissioners room each evening until nine.

Hayes Returned Here After Bond Jump To Funeral

Deputy sheriff J. P. Zane brought back Berne Hayes former Big Horn County Bank cashier who faces a forgery charge. Hayes learned of his mother’s death in Milford Nebraska and left for the funeral after local friends posted his bond.

A Republican meeting will be held in Hyatville tomorrow evening with speaker R. B. West. The event will be followed by a free dance and is open to all residents to hear the speech and enjoy the dance.

Light Precinct Registration Ahead of November Election

Registration in the precinct was light with 297 voters added over five days. About 200 eligible voters remained unregistered since the last general election saw 490 ballots cast, and a push is urged next Thursday and Friday to register before the last registration days.

The funeral of Chas. McDonald was held Sunday afternoon at Worland conducted by Rev. Edwin Bowling of the M. E. B. church of Basin and assisted by Rev. J. A. Alford of the M. E. B. church of Worland. A large gathering attended. Interment was made in the Worland cemetery.
