SAD DEATH OF MRS J L LANDFair

Mrs. Cora Marian Wadman Landfair wife of John L Landfair district court clerk died Monday night after months of illness. Born Halifax July 4 1898 she married in Boston July 21 1917 and moved to Basin in 1920 where she resided with her husband and son. Survived by husband son John L Landfair Jr parents four brothers and one sister. Funeral Wednesday at 2 30 pm conducted by Rev Edwin Bowling and Dean J J Dixon interment Mount View cemetery. Floral tributes from local organizations.

Mondell to Speak in Rex Theatre on Monday

Frank W. Mondell and Governor Robert D. Carey will address voters at the Rex theatre next Monday evening on campaign issues from a Republican viewpoint. Mondell will discuss why he seeks Senate seat and outline campaign topics for Wyoming.

Owl Club entertains guests at Saturday gathering

Mr and Mrs F M Hime hosted the Owl club last Saturday evening with regular members plus Mr and Mrs M B Walker Mr and Mrs Harry J Hall and Mr and Mrs J G Keatchie in attendance. Refreshments were served and all reported a very fine time.

Married at Burlington in Burlington social season highlight

One of the season’s great Burlington social events was the wedding of Miss Abbie Olson and Clifford J. Campau on Wednesday October 18 at the bride’s home. About sixty guests attended the ceremony by Bishop H. L. Neves followed by a bountiful dinner. The rose wedding cake topped the table and many guests took a piece as a memento. The couple then left for Cody for about ten days visiting the bride’s sister Mrs Owen Spence.

Indecency charge leads to fine and jail for youth

William Warren of Sheridan pleaded guilty to indecent exposure on the Burlington right of way in Greybull. He was fined $60 and sentenced to thirty days in county jail.

Republican Club Formed in Basin County

Chas Griffin and Ad Gen Ismay of Cheyenne visited Basin last Monday and organized a county Republican club with R B West as director and Jas F Ewers as secretary. Sixty charter members signed, over 100 expected by next week. A Wednesday meeting outlined a campaign to aid the state and county ticket and voter registration. The club plans to continue after the election with regular meetings and social events.

Duck Hunters Visit Lovell in Big Weekend Outing

G A Hinman Allan Daley and J L Warren of Greybull and Judge W Mets and J R Bonwell of Basin visited Lovell for a duck hunting trip. They were guided to Byron pond by L A Bowman Harvey Harris and Ralph Durkin. A good number of ducks were captured and hosts praised for hospitality.

Manager Frank Barth of the Rex theatre schedules a continuous show on Tuesday November 7th to provide county state and national election returns. Patrons can enjoy a full evening while following results in a comfortable setting. Rex theatre seeks to hire staff for election night coverage.

Car backs into Big Horn River near Ed Miller place

A. J. Bankson backed his car into the Big Horn River east of town Monday afternoon. He escaped unharmed and was helped ashore by R. G. Belton who pulled the car out. It was a narrow escape for Bankson.

Greybull and Casper to clash in expected thriller

Greybull high school football with seventeen players traveled through Basin on Burlington No 30 at noon yesterday to Casper where they will face the Casperites in a highly anticipated battle. The Greybull squad is formidable though not the fastest in the conference, and the outcome is awaited with unusual interest.

The Basin Woman's Club will hold its meeting next Wednesday after noon at the library. Mrs. C. B. Abbott will lead the program on Women in Policies.

Earthquake Reported Near Casper and Ball Creek

The Gazette notes a three second quake Wednesday night affecting Casper and Ball Creek. Buildings shook but no serious damage was reported. The write up cites a chamber of commerce prepared feature on Basin area and local public buildings.

Basin Woman's Club Plans Halloween Parade and Frolic

The Basin Woman's Club, with support from civic leaders, invites parents to join a Halloween parade and evening frolic on October 31 at 7:30 pm. Prizes honor best costumes and groups, with bonfires, weinle roasts, wrestling, boxing, and refreshments planned on the business streets ending with a curfew at 11:30 pm.

Greybull Man Found Insane by Jury Verdict

Harry Cogill of Greybull faced an insanity charge in district court with Judge J. R. Bonwell and a jury of J B Atherly AL Blake P P Anderson O W McNay C C Bilis and Paris Daugherty. The jury found him insane and he was committed to Lander for treatment with the hope of restoration.
