Unique Memorial Completed For Mary Baker Eddy Memorial at Mt Auburn Cambridge Mass
The Mary Baker Eddy memorial at Mt Auburn cemetery Cambridge Mass completed by Elbert Barlow of New York City transfers to The Christian Science Board of Directors after over a year and a half of work. Funded at about 150000 dollars fully subscribed since June 1911, the memorial uses Bethel white granite with ornamental feral motifs of wild rose and morning glory. Architect Egerton Swartwout of New York designed it, with a circular eight-column open colonnade on sloped ground and a flower-grown circle, described as a unique classical yet free modern treatment.
