Big Banquet On Wednesday Night Chamber Meeting News

At the Chamber of Commerce regular meeting the federal building committee filed a report read by Secretary Denny. Wyoming delegation messages indicate the new federal building may start in July or August. A general meeting is set for next Wednesday at Mountain View hotel at eight to hear committee and officer reports and a year’s accomplishments.

Sullivan on National Defense in Wyoming Plan

Governor Houx appointed E. J. Sullivan to the Wyoming delegation for National Defense. In Cheyenne, Sullivan told The Republican the finance committee of the Wyoming State Council for National Defense voted $50,000 to support state council work. The plan uses trustee notes and bank signatures with prorated guarantees to fund activities across the state. The council will organize permanent operations for two years or the war’s end, with departments in finance publicity legal coordination sanitation food supply labor and more.

Fred C. Metcham of Lovell was found unconscious on a sidewalk in front of W Stackhouse home. He died Monday morning after a back wound. Coroner's inquest found death from a felonious assault by Stackhouse at about 8:30 Sunday night May 20 1917.
