One System School to Save Taxpayers Money

The district approves a single system for next year with a $6,500 levy, reelects H. Smith and W. H. Pauley, and elects Mrs. Jas F. Ewers as trustee. Pauley to president, Ewers clerk, plans include new partitions, graded tuition, and aims to attract outside pupils while reducing per pupil cost.

A Park At The Depot

The Woman's club renews effort to buy the vacant ground near the depot for a park. Located where all passengers see it, the site hurts the town’s appearance. Action is hoped soon to convert the area into a beauty spot as the ladies commend their lively interest.

Wyoming On Wheels Plan Traveling Views Lecture Tour

Fred Winchester of Manderagon outlines a plan to advertise the county with a series of views of various places and to deliver lectures at each stop. In a telephone conversation this week he says he will arrange any needed views and is willing to travel in the car as it moves east. He believes the venture would be inexpensive and a smart investment for the county.

Farm management sells seed and driller moves to Shell country

The Seward county Nebra ska farm management association reports sales over 15000 dollars of alfabty seed with a net gain of 850 dollars. About 15035 pounds of seed were sold to the Rockbite Perure e association of South Carolina at a saving of 1000 dollars to its ne tubes. This week Geoft Mille moved a rig into the Shell country about three miles south of the stone school base and will start drilling.

Continued reports indicate Mite Kio Hhakesley remains seriously ill after about two weeks. The situation shows no clear improvement and hospital care continues as family and associates monitor the condition.

Two New Bridges Proposed Across Shoshone and Greybull Rivers

Land declared non oil though 12559 acres found favorable for oil and gas deposits recommended for withdrawal. County commissioners approve bid for two new steel bridges over the Shoshone river at Byron and the Greybull at Anderson ford seven miles from Basin. Estimated Byron bridge cost about 6500 dollars. Byron Cowley Lovell residents urged project with a 500-name petition.

Snowstorm Breathes Heavy Snow on Big Horn Range

Tobe Borner of Shell, a ranger on the Big Horn reserve, said in town yesterday that over three and a half feet of snow fell in the storm of the past days on the Mountaipa area and continued to fall. He added that if this holds on the Big Alot mountains it likely means ample irrigation water this year compared with earlier weeks.

Wolf hunt near Shell basin nets six wolf pups killed

Last week Jack Boylan chased wolves into a cave on Post creek at the head of Shell basin and shot six pups. The mature wolves fled, causing a small mix up in the hunt. A bounty applies to wolf hides under the new bounty law.

Griffin Buys Latest Hupmobile for Byron Bridge Area

W. W. Murphy sold a Hupmobile this week to VY. Griffin of Byron. Griffin, an old timer in Big Barn County, is pleased to secure the new car as they near construction of a bridge at Byron. His friends welcome the purchase and the improved access it brings.

Gas exposure at Cody tunnel injures workers

Last week at Cody C W Atherly formerly of this place and seven workmen were overcome by gas that had accumulated in the tunnel they were boring. They were carried to the surface and crude resuscitation brought them back to life. Atherly remained in worse condition than the others.

The Basin Boosters traveled to Greybull last Saturday for a game against the Greybull Giants, a similarly young club. The article notes the boys had a fine time but refuses to reveal the score, implying the Giants held the advantage.

Big Old Tank To Rise At Garey Site Near Greybul

Greybull Oil Co has awarded a contract to erect a new oil tank west of existing structures near Garey. The tank will measure 146 feet in diameter and 36 feet high, with a capacity of 65 000 barrels, supporting the refinery expansion planned for the area.

Japanese Cabinet Deliberations Grow Over China Tension

Tokio May 6 The emperor will preside at a cabinet council tomorrow as officials discuss the Japan China situation. No official word was issued today on any decision. A fleet is loading supplies at Suesho while the United States reportedly mediates, extending the protracted talks. Russian reports claim the Carpathians campaign shows marked German gains and Russian setbacks with large prisoner totals.

The Basin is known as a fruit country and these trees are presented as premier stock for any buyer with acreage. Fishermen in Shell County Enjoy Weeklong Outing

Catches were light as Catching Fish, W. S. Pease, Guy Craig and C. W. Nicholson fished in the Shell county area this week, tallying few fish but remaining productive in the stream. Martin LaFollette of Burlington visited the Basin, conducting business with the county supervisor’s office about delinquent taxes.
