The district court handled two to five cases daily, with several continuances and dismissals. A noted contempt case fined August Koester for nonpayment was jailed until compliance. The docket aims to clear by the 26th and recess till September.
Guy McKee and Bery Smith returned last Sunday and Alton Wicks January 9 after muster out at Fort Russell. McKee says until arriving in Cheyenne he had not seen a man in the service he knew before.
Arrangements are complete for a good roads benefit dance at Hyattville this Saturday night. The renovated hall boasts an excellent floor and the Misses Van Slyke will assist with the music in their novel manner. Dancing will follow the program order, with a copy distributed promptly at 90 Lt. to intend.
A social event at Riverside Inn will begin at a late hour and conclude at 2 o clock. Refreshments will be served during the evening as attendees enjoy dancing and music.
A broad community affair invites all residents and nearby neighbors to a chautauqua event. It emphasizes inclusivity for outsiders and promises convenient services from local stores to accommodate visitors, aiming for strong turnout from neighboring towns.
M. Stout a Civil War veteran and custodian of Basin’s federal building marked his 73rd birth anniversary yesterday. Affectionately called Daddy by friends, he says he feels as young as at his arrival in the Big Horn Basin and can still work a full day.
A dance is planned in Hyattville tomorrow evening inviting Basin residents to attend. Proceeds will fund improvements on the roads leading out of Hyattville.
Greybull team hfre will visit the local diamond Sunday at 3 PM to challenge Manager Martins Pets. Martins has strengthened his squad with two new pitchers and the team is practicing daily as fans are urged to attend for a big season crowd and strong exhibition.
Lovell defeated Basin 14 to 8 in the second game of the season at Lovell. Manager Martain sparked a late batting rally, while Henthorne collected five hits in five at bats and Kelley added three hits in four tries. Score by innings shows Basin 8 runs, Lovell 14 with explosive rallies.
Albert Fisher formerly Greybull town marshal was arrested on a Burlington complaint charging grand larceny as bailee. He allegedly took nine cases of whiskey valued at about 306 dollars from the United States Railroad administration and converted four cases for his own use, selling two cases to Sadie Devitt and others unknown. Fisher appeared before Justice Bonwell, waived preliminaries, and was bound over to district court in 500 dollar bonds.
Rev R M Jones led a ring ceremony Sunday morning at 9 as Miss Cora Van Pelt wed Everett A Macy. Attendants were bridesmaid Miss Bonnie Troxel and groomsman Phil R Bender. The couple will reside near Manderson, and are warmly welcomed by friends.
Chautauqua belongs to everybody and is for the people. Come, enjoy a great program, be quiet during the shows, and applaud generously. It is the most democratic American institution and a common meeting ground for all ages.
A- V. Cooking arrived back yesterday after a trip to Thermopolis for the Viele.
Schedule lists games across June to August for teams Powell Grey Bull Basin Worland Cody Lovell Thermopolis in the Big Horn Basin Base Ball association. Dates include June 22 through August 31 with matchups such as Powell at Cody Worland at Cody Grey Bull at Basin and Cody at Powell.
George Allen Fultz died last Sunday at his brother William Fultz home above Hyattville after a long TB illness. He was born February 26 1867 in Kansas and leaves two Missouri daughters, four brothers Harvey William Richard and Charles, two sisters Mary Gardner and Sadie Harris. Funeral services were conducted by Rev R M Jones from the M E church of Basin and interment followed in Hyattville cemetery. He was a miner by trade and his wife had died years earlier.
On Wednesday Layton Harris of Lovell and Miss Pearl Alston of Otto were married by Justice J. Eh. Bonwell at his residence. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J Abasaton and the groom the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. David Horria. They will reside in Lovell and friends wish them happiness.
Mr. and Mrs. John P. Arnott report a letter from Lieut. J. P. Arnott Jr. in St Nasire France stating he met Rupert Anderson and the Lewis boys of the 148th there. He has been released from duty and ordered to Camp Sherman Ohio to lead a company of returning soldiers before returning to Basin.
Sam Hyatt donated the ground between the two branches of Palot Rock south of Hyattville to the town for park purposes for the people.
The town will begin cleaning the land to prepare it for tourists and campers. Mr Hyatt generously donated the ground, significantly boosting the town’s appeal as a summer destination.

A. L. Snyder has sold the Hyattville general store to C. L. Plasters and wife who will operate it. Snyder will move to a nearby ranch near Hyattville. The Plasters are well known in Paint Rock country and are wished success in their new venture.

The Basin garrison learns the welcome home for the 148th Field Artillery is postponed. Only Palmer Johnson P W Kuntz and Henry O Lewis have returned from France where others remain in quarantine. Depot welcome for the trio will occur next week pending the rest of the unit.
Governor hk Carey urges Wyoming residents to greet returning 148th field artillery members with broad hospitality. Many are former Wyoming National Guard. they will be demobilized in Cheyenne. The governor praises the unit’s record and invites cities to host and entertain the troops and other returning soldiers during the chautauqua week.
A meeting of Greybull river water users in Burlington discussed a water shortage and backed constructing multiple reservoirs to store spring flood waters. A six member committee and E. J. Sullivan will handle steps and legal work, with reservoir sites surveyed and costs estimated between 350,000 and 1,000,000 dollars. A bond election will be held to fund the project, benefiting lands along the Greybull valley and Liberty bench.
Townspeople are urged to attend a week long chautauqua offering lectures, music and entertainment. The committee emphasizes community benefit over profit and invites all ages to join, promising lasting value from the programs.
W. A. Rizer, superintendent of the Burlington water division, arrived from Casper this week to supervise the installing of water at the local stock yards. The improvement has long been needed and will aid stockmen using the yards. Saul Alderdice of Greybull is visiting town this morning.
