Progress Association Deliberates Water Works Question in Powell

The Big Horn Basin Progress Association met at the Frontier restaurant with H. B. Ridgely presiding. Members favored river water over a deep well for the proposed water system. A committee was formed to gauge council interest and call a mass meeting, while roads and Elk Creek bridge matters were referred for action.

Arrests in Basin area feature cow boy poet case

In Basin near Greybull, C E Wendie bars and a woman with a child are jailed in Billings awaiting transfer back to Basin's Big Horn County. Wendie, calling himself a cow boy poet, allegedly wooed the woman away from her husband, while intent to marry her. The husband retrieved his wife in Billings as Wendie faces possible Montana charges. Sheriff Orrick notified Basin officials of the custody, with later notes on local appointments and upcoming games.

Big Horn County Fair dates set with varied attractions

Weir Association trustees fixed the fair dates for September 26 27 28 29 and 30. Prizes include 150 75 200 for contests wild wear bucking and horse events with staged Deadwood holdups and 50 Indians. Other prizes range from 25 to 15 and more acts will be announced.

Regular Meeting Sees Bills Paid and Water Mains Extended

Town council met with Mayor Booth and all members present. Bills were allowed. Water mains were ordered extended to Lot 4 in Block 37 Moe addition. Hauling coal contract awarded to Loveland and Potter at 4c plus 5c. A 600 foot hose purchase at $1.05 per foot was approved after sample show. Sinking test wells discussed. Higby pledged to push for a test if public support existed. H T Lamb of Greyball reported drilling about thirty wells locally.

Basin Dramatic Club aims for costumes and scenery

The Basin Dramatic Club under Colonel Hastings plans to present the next Monday night show with costumes and special scenery. Rehearsals have been faithful and the company is expected to deliver a performance resembling a professional cast.
