Bank files suit against Ellises over promissory notes

Basin State Bank through attorney H. S. Ridgely filed a district court suit on two promissory notes totaling 1000 dollars. A writ of attachment was issued and served by the sheriff on the defendants properties.

Youthful offender pleads guilty to attempted rape

John Grobaskie, age 18, born in Russia, pleaded guilty to an attempted rape of 14 year old Clara McManus near Lucerne. Judge Parmelee sentenced him to not less than four years and not more than fifteen years in the Rawlins penitentiary despite youth and good character. Prosecutor West urged leniency due to youth. The crime occurred May 18, and the newspaper had previously reported on the case.

Sheridan County Officials Seek Judgment on Venue Fees

County Clerk Allen Floyd of Sheridan county pressed County Attorney Westo to confess judgment for the amount sued by Sheridan county. For years. timber of cases have been moved to Sheridan county on venue changes, and the county has paid jury fees about 1600 dollars that Smg Horn county should cover. Bills not yet properly presented and Mr West would not confess judgment until the matter was properly brought before the county. Mr Phond returned to Sherilan on Wednesday.

Literary Club Fails to Meet Quorum

The club failed to achieve a quorum Monday night so no opera was presented and the meeting adjourned until next Monday evening. If attendance does not improve the meetings may be discontinued until fall. Oh LL Durer will present a paper on fiance next.

A contract between Wyoming and Kansas City Big Horn Irrigation Co funds water for over 18 thousand acres in Big Horn county. A 15000 dollar cash deposit guarantees project performance. Water will come from Porcupine creek and land lies north in Big Horn east of Ionia.

Men and women rounded up in Cody case mix up

Sheriff Dahlem arrested two people in Cody on Monday whom he thought to be a boy and girl. The girl wore blue jumpers, weighed 187 pounds, and had blue eyes. The group used names Ure Hessle Howman and Marte Hager but were Ida Sime and Ma ale. The female was employed at the Newton ranch near Cody. An uncle allegedly wronged the young girl, Lewiston officials planned to place her in a reformatory, and a brother aged eighteen fled Montana with the woman. The boy faces forgery charges for issuing a grandmother's check. A separate horse theft case emerged in Meeteetse, with a thief escaping toward Montana. Treasury plans to place the Basin federal building on the southeast court house lot. In Basin boxing, Frank White edged Kid Ross in a 20 round decision at Cheyenne.

County saloon cases filed for May 7 violations

West filed two complaints against local saloon keepers O W McNay and M R Douglas for unlawful conduct on May 7 election day and Sunday. McNay case suspended for good behavior, Douglas case continued to June 5. West notes frequent violations and intends strict enforcement. Basin teachers announced summer plans with several heading to Colorado Nebraska and Montana for visits and relatives. Robert Carey Sued for 15000 Damages

Mrs. Laurie Deacon sues Robert D. Carey eldest son of Governor Carey for 15000 damages alleging a runaway team from Careyhuret station to the Carey ranch caused her broken leg and subsequent medical care. The incident occurred during travel as she was a domestic employed at the Carey household.
