The Republican reviews a year of strong farm output in the Basin country with larger acreage and improved yields in corn, potatoes, wheat, and livestock. Livestock shipments to eastern markets rose while hogs and poultry profits grew. Basin town commerce shows broad gains with new homes, rising business activity, and optimism for 191é.
Torchlight oil wells suffered a major loss last Saturday night as the newly built cook house burned completely. Cause unreliably known but gas pressure may have forced flame onto combustibles, delaying containment. Butte Oil Company plans rapid reconstruction and expansion with two new tool strings and other developments. J R Davenport and W W White, visiting Basin, have leased ground nearby and plan to operate in Spence and other fields, signaling significant capital involvement.

Major operators like Torchlight and Ohio O and F secure leases, while Midwest Refining relocates from Thermopolis. Local managers report record demand and stock shortages as spring drilling looms.
