Prosperous year for Basin area farms and businesses

The Republican reviews a year of strong farm output in the Basin country with larger acreage and improved yields in corn, potatoes, wheat, and livestock. Fire destroys Torchlight cook house at oil wells

Torchlight oil wells suffered a major loss last Saturday night as the newly built cook house burned completely. Cause unreliably known but gas pressure may have forced flame onto combustibles, delaying containment. Butte Oil Company plans rapid reconstruction and expansion with two new tool strings and other developments. J R Davenport and W W White, visiting Basin, have leased ground nearby and plan to operate in Spence and other fields, signaling significant capital involvement.

Christmas Eve Entertainments At Basin Churches

On Christmas eve Basin held multiple entertainments at the Methodist Baptist and Episcopal churches with trees and programs that pleased all, especially the children. On Christmas day many residents hosted special dinners for guests local and visiting.
