Midwest oil interests seize lead in licensing and development across regions, signaling shifting control as firms coordinate with regulators to secure exploration rights and maximize production potential. Executives from WN Oil push strategic alliances and energy policy influence.

Midwest Refining Gains Full Hold In Greybull Field

Midwest Refining company takes over all interests in the Greybull oil field after negotiating with Thermopolis promoters for a quarter stake and striking options on additional claims. Oil found in initial drillings prompts rapid development with rigs and manpower, while Ohbio Oil Co may sell two claims to the Midwest outfit. Field shows three oil bearing sands with thicknesses of 60, 80 feet, and another yet to be exploited. Ownership shares are split among Midwest, Lincoln Townsite, and West Virginia interests, with a large option held by Durham group. A university basketball game in Basin on the 23rd is also noted.

Death of Frank May shocks Basin Thermopolis friends

The death of Frank May, a well known Basin resident and Thermopolis civil engineer, after a brief illness at home, comes as a shock to county and Thermopolis communities. Born in Central City Nebraska in 1890, he planned to marry Miss Nellie Nelson in spring. Survived by parents Col W H May, brothers Billy and Bertie, and many friends, funeral held at Adrian Smith home with Rev A M Creath delivering the sermon. Interment at Mount View cemetery. local manager W P Hogarty to lead Lovell sugar factory. colleagues R C May and A B Cross accompanying.

Eastern Star officers installed after banquet

The regular installation of officers of the Eastern Star was held Wednesday night with Ruth Donaldson as worthy matron and H. Smith as patron. Death by own action ends life of Uncle Billy Robison

Uncle Billy Robison a longtime county resident died by self inflicted knife wound in his throat. An inquest held in Hyattville found death caused by his own action with Justice Bonwell and officials present. Interment took place at Higattville. Robison had suffered from long illness and blindness, thought to have driven the decision.

Grading Bridges Contract Awarded in County Meeting

At the last meeting the county commissioners set the contract for the grade work on two bridges across the Greybull and Shoshone rivers. Dave Johnson holds the Greybull bridge contract and Wm Eastman the Byron bridge. Crews expect to finish enough for teams to cross with reasonable ease in a few days.

Austro Hungarian admiralty defends the commander who sank the Italian steamer Ancona and would have condemned him for not acting.
