Forest Notes on 1915 National Forest Claims and Sales
The report states more than 600 mineral claims were patented in national forests during fiscal year 1915. About 21 million acres within forest boundaries are privately owned. Of 10,905 timber sales, 10,021 were under $100. On July 1, 1915 the forest service employed 3,875, with 3,275 on forests and 600 in administrative and scientific roles at Washington and seven district HQs.

Ice mishap at Big Seven saloon injures two friends
Last Monday at the Big Seven saloon Al Blake was seriously hurt while lifting ice into a cooler and Oscar McNay dropped the same ice piece, injuring his ankle. Both men are reported to be getting along as of now.

Explosion Kills Two On Burlington Freight Engine Near Casper
Last Sunday morning a Burlington railroad engine blew up west of Casper killing engineer Miller and fatally injuring fireman and brakeman A J Marquardt. The wounded were taken to Casper hospital. Marquardt died soon after and the fireman died the following Tuesday. Marquardt, once a Grey Bull resident, was brother in law to Mrs. Dave Johnson. Funeral held in Greybull Thursday afternoon.

W L Lawson of Billings and R C May of Lovell visited Basin to present plans for a sugar company to build beet processing facilities, dwellings, and office buildings for local management. The project includes a field staff, several district managers, beet dumps on 500 acres, and a sliding scale payment for beets.
