Plant to be Erected Early Spring in Basin

News from Basin reports B C Rumey of Cody will build a cold storage plant near the Ghoshone creamery. It will store butter eggs and poultry and other goods as business grows. Manager R E Ghee fom will run the new company with investors L G Phelps and W R Cos of Cody. Also notes W & Myers returned from California praising the visit but glad to be back in Big Horn county.

Jimmerfield Wed In Quiet Episcopal Ceremony

Nels Jimmerfield of Burlington and Mrs. J. E. B. Dickinson of Spokane were married yesterday at the Episcopal church. Rev. O. E. McOinley officiated, the couple leaving for the Jimmerfield ranch to begin housekeeping with Ora Yonners as witnesses. The groom is well known to Basin residents.

Judge Mentzer Oversees Fair Court Session in Wyoming

Judge Mentzer of Cheyenne presided over the Big Horn versus Park County hearing this week. He kept proceedings efficient and was pleased with the region's climate. Dr H H Almweorth drove from Cody to help Carl Hammitt catch a southbound train after his father’s Colorado death. C B Jamison and Dr Ainsworth joined the travel. A Wardell of Cowley displayed the week’s coyotes and bounty hides.

Wardell noted for - Cowley Citizen praise persists

George Crosby, a leading Cowley sheepman and Montana cattle investor, visited Basin early this week with Crowley. Crowley, once influential in local politics, is expected to resume prominent political activity soon. Eastern Star Lewisia Chapter held its annual election of officers.

Lovell Beets Factory Plan to Boost Basin Farming

Sugar company plans a Lovell beet factory with about 200 acres bought west of town near the Shoshone bridge. Work to start soon and rush to finish to handle next year’s beet crop. The venture aims to contract 8,000 acres, pay Billings rates, and save farmers freight. It will feed pulp and tops to livestock, boost farming, and spur more factories in the Big Horn Basin. Settlement Decision Ends Long County Bridge Dispute

A Cheyenne court led by Judge Menzier concluded a settlement between Big Horn and Park counties after a drawn out dispute over bridge costs and the value of public buildings. Park county’s share was set at about $11,450 plus interest, with total indebtedness estimated around $34,350. Further appeals are expected, and settlements with Washakie and Hot Springs will follow the ruling.

Oklahoma man plans Basin drilling expansion

Ship Machinery J. W. Metler of Oklahoma has been in the country for weeks and will return home to arrange shipping of all drilling rigs and equipment from that state to Basin. He has secured a large lease acreage and will begin development work once machinery arrives. He faced trouble securing a railroad right of way for a storehouse along the switch as space is filled.

Schubert Concert Draws Large Basin Audience

Bohubert Company presented the Schubert Concert at Basin last Wednesday to a crowded hall. The event, under the Methodist Ladies Aid, raised funds and drew praise for music judged among Basin's best. Jesse Linn of Greybull and Alma Kaiser of Lincolnville Kans were married in Basin by Rev A M Creath. The bride, a Basin visitor, and groom, a prosperous ranchman, plan to reside in the Shell country. The Republican joins well wishes for happiness and prosperity. Mrs A H Tedman notes a visit to the high school and grammar department.

Local School Praised Amid Friday Dec 10 Evening Show

The speaker voices high satisfaction with the Uplen ard system in force and commends local teachers as among the state's best. A picture show and program are planned for Friday evening December 10, with strong patronage urged.

Bridge construction resumes in Falls City area

Construction on two bridges progresses after delays caused by material shortages. Falls City workers haul steel and structural iron to the Greyball river site at Anderson’s cross, while Commissioner's delegation visits Byron to inspect the plan. Local residents in Germania and Byron welcome the bridge.

Last Wednesday Mrs Ruth Donald entertained many ladies in honor of Mrs C W Atherly of Billings with a delightful afternoon and luncheon. Rev and Mrs Creath hosted a six o'clock turkey dinner Thursday for several young people including Kathleen O Neil Lucille Coons Lil lian Anderson John Coons Harold Daniels and Prof Moor. J T Brosious a Kane County prominent citizen visited Basin last Sunday between trains. Senator George B McClellan of Nowood met friends in town Thursday and praised Mock conditions at his Red Bank ranch. B W Fifer of Denver, expert accountant for the Big Horn county settlement with Park county, attended hearings in town all week. W T Whaley known as the tall sycamore was in town during the week.

Oil boom continues with new wells in Greybull field

W F Blaine of Cleveland Wyoming Oil reports a high grade oil from the Pease place near the Pease residence. They plan to shoot and pump soon, then finish the Tillard and Frisby wells. Greybull field remains active with daily new wells, tanks full for refinery in progress at that site and shipments to Casper and Cowley for refining. Basin Wyoming Oil Co promoters are busy, with land west of the Big Horn river and north of town under development. Interest grows in western lands with several locations, leases, and a school section taken in Dorset creek country. Ek Basin drills continue steadily with new rigs, Frannie freight booming, and Mid-West and Ohio companies leading the activity. New leases in Hyattville and near Bonanza hint at soon-begin drilling programs.

The Woman's club will hold its next meeting on Wednesday afternoon December 8. The program will be provided by the department of literature and library with Mrs. W S Collins serving as chairman.

Box Social and Hearing Draw Attendees at Baptist Church

A box social and short program will be held at the Baptist church tonight with all invited. County Attorney Fred W. Wyckett of Hot Springs County traveled from there last Monday to witness the settlement hearing between Big Horn and Park counties, as their county is directly affected and will settle once the Park county dispute is decided. W. D. Bachellor of Cheyenne, an expert accountant who audited Big Horn county books under Park county direction, has been in town this week as a witness. Grant Yarnell, a leading farmer from St. Joe County, visited town last Saturday and is known for his productive Big Horn county farm and stock.
