The ZR-2 airship exploded and plunged into the Humber river near Hull England killing 16 US Navy officers and 27 British Navy officers. Only one American rigger Norman O Walter survived initially though later reports confirmed his survival.
Lewis F. Pennington a farmer living two miles south of town drowned last Sunday while seine fishing in the Big Horn river three miles south of town. He was with George Johnston and his brothers when Pennington disappeared in a deep hole. John Smith located the body with a rake and Pennington was found dead. coroner ruled accidental drowning. Pennington born May 1 1895 at Cumberland county Illinois aged 26 years three months two days. Funeral held at Methodist church with American Legion presence. interment Mount View cemetery. Also note Grace Spears left for Kansas City after visiting her parents.
A balloon began turning over prompting the rescue party to withdraw and return to the tug.
Armstrong proposes dedicating a day before Basin fair for street improvements. Volunteers with trucks could cover the main street with gravel and remove ruts. The idea should be supported by the Chamber of Commerce or another local group to provide incentive and drive.
The Big Horn county fair offers 3 dollars for the best bed spread and 2 dollars for the best luncheon set. The Denver cafe contributes 5 dollars to the sweepstakes for the best display in the old ladies department. Individuals add five dollars for the best display of school work.
Boies C. Hart, who visited here this summer, sailed yesterday from New York for Pernambuco Brazil. He joins National City Bank of New York on special business and expects to stay six to eight months in Brazil.

Midwest reports a new 4200 barrel well at Salt Creek while Big Muddy and Eagledome drilling pause. Lewis & Clark Oil Co. aims to shoot wells near Torchlight today as stockholders arrive to observe.
Wm C May P P Anderson H L Wise and F J Stipek went to Cody on Tuesday to perform Chapter work in the Royal Arch Masons that evening. Assisting were W B Edwards Frank A Little W D Jones Wm Fedderson H C Avery and Judge Metz who praised the occasion and left satisfied in their remarks.
A Basin Chamber of Commerce committee charged with arranging suitable entertainment for the upcoming Modern Caravan visit in Basin has prepared plans. The group aims to provide engaging acts and activities for local ladies and the wider Basin vicinity audience.
Residents are urged to contribute small edibles or cakes for entertainers and guests. Offerings may be left at the Golden Rule store for delivery on arrival. Committee members Mrs. Caroline Brown and Mrs. N J Long request friendly visits to boost the effort.
Della Bell Crandall, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Delbert Crandall of Greybull, died yesterday morning at twelve days old. Funeral services are set for this afternoon at 2 30 from the Methodist church with Rev Edwin Bowling officiating and burial in Mount View Cemetery.
Timothy F. Cross of Casper and Mrs Freda Slingbaum of Scottsbluffs Nebraska were married yesterday afternoon at the Presbyterian manse by Rev Leon A Losey in a small ceremony.

Col May, committees, and Mayor West coordinate a two week push to stage a masked parade hobo band auto polo races relays and more over three days. Exhibits include 200 new poultry coops and a strong ladies department led by Mrs. J Atherly. Agricultural and horticultural displays promise to astonish locals.
J R Bonwell of the Chamber of Commerce visited Casper to explore a cash market for surplus vegetables and fruits. A deal with Midwest commissary department allows sale of these surpluses for cash at Denver prices with spot cash on delivery. Growers are urged to bring even sized tomatoes and other vegetables in marketable condition for cash payments.
Mr and Mrs Lou Blakesley returned last Monday from Lander where he had been three weeks. He served as superintendent of water and visited every section of Fremont County and the Bix Horn Basin. He fell ill just as he prepared to return and was bedridden for a week, but is now well. He covered much of the basin area in his duties this year.
Secretary Hoover urges governors to authorize fall road building contracts to provide winter employment. He cites states that already use fall contracts and argues nationwide adoption could put thousands of workers to work through the winter wherever road projects can continue.
Reverend Edwin Bowling and W. H. Talbott led a club outing for the Paint Rock Methodist Sunday school.
