Deputy Ted Price was shot through the heart and mortally wounded suspect Ed Mollendure during a bootlegger pursuit near Cottonwood Crossing on Grass Creek Road. Sheriff Holdredge and Deputy Jack Palmer engaged the bootleggers after an India Pass road chase. Mollendure was mortally wounded.

Basin Selected as Grand Lodge Host Next Year

Arrangements move the Midland Carbon Cowley plant to the Wyoming Yellow Stone gas field at Golden Eagle while Cowley plant is torn down and spring move anticipated. The Wyoming Yellow Stone carbonate plant works to capacity with abundant gas and aims to attract more industries. Al liace Oil & Refinery, now Standard Oil, is being prepared with added stills and storage to boost output. About 20 000 barrels of oil sit in storage at Grey Bull and across the river they will be shipped as the refinery comes to full operation. Oil from Hamilton home storage at Chatham will be used alongside Warm Spring Creek stock to run the refinery soon. The new management plans to steadily increase production. Contempt Citations In Basin Land Case
Woodson Moss filed for a temporary injunction against Stephen Garvey Edward Maschek and Edward Wopat for trespassing with sheep on Garvie basin land. They were cited to show cause why they should not be punished for contempt after an ab davit alleged noncompliance. Veteran affairs workers arrived in Basin with a local audience for a shooting event at the Chamber of Commerce rooms as the Clean Up squad plans to arrive in Basin on the afternoon of September.
