Northern Drilling Company to Open Offices in Basin

Oil notes report Northern Drilling company will set up offices in Basin with contractors active in Bik basin and Montana files. The Lost Soldier field, dubbed Dead Soldier by locals, shows rigs at work but no oil. Hall Oil company reports a deep well water and Pilot Butte like prospects emerge as several officials and operators visit Basin and Cody area.

Leidecker Pleased Over Basin Lot Purchase by Donor Aid

Money was raised locally to support a Basin land purchase by the Leidecker Tool Co after the owner asked 1500 for lot sales while the company offered 1000. Mayor Berry spearheaded a 500 subscription, donors were listed, but Leidecker declined the gift and bought with company funds. Also notes hospital nosebleed case Billie Lewis and Labor Day plans for Greybull with Governor Kendrick’s proclamation and T S Armstrong Supply securing bank plumbing contract.

Primary Held In County for Races and Nominations

Last Tuesday’s primary drew statewide activity with Sheriff Wickwire leading Republican votes. In school superintendent contests, Ruth Donaldson and Elaine Kinder led the GOP ticket. Republican totals show Hinckley ahead for state senator and Skovgard strong for the state legislature. Democratic results show Led for state senate and Murphy leading in several courts. Countywide totals are reported complete except Cloverly precinct. Worland and Washakie areas show Hinckley, McClellan, Randel, and Skovgard leading in their races.

Building Going Up Vote in Basin

The Leidecker Tool Co. began erecting its plant after purchasing land north of Berry Lumber Co.'s yard. J H Welsh won the concrete contract. Max Moritz, ex-Chicago contractor, is foreman. Machinery buys and shop readiness are expected in about a month with ~12 skilled workers to start. Inspector Abney reviewed Basin post office needs and potential second class status. Basin's primary election yielded GOP wins with detailed tallies for local and county offices. A Wyoming Day park trip offer and a Cheyenne political event were also noted.

Worland attorney Noel Morgan visits town

Noel Morgan of Worland was a Sunday visitor at the home of Mr and Mrs F J Rue. He has just been admitted to the practice of law and will open an office in Worland in the near future. Noel is the son of QO Morgan and is well known locally. friends wish him success in his new profession.

Mrs Mary Schott and Mrs Rebeth Frazer of Los Angeles are visiting this week with their niece Mrs Zela Murphy in town. The sisters are keeping busy with local gatherings and plan short onshore trips during their stay.

Fatal Accident Believed Fatal to Ernest Avery

A sixteen year old, Ernest Avery, son of Mr and Mrs H C Avery of the south bench, was injured when a hay wagon he drove rolled over him near the John Calvert place. He was taken to Basin hospital with a likely fatal injury to the spine and is not expected to recover.

Will Go Fishing With Knickerbocker and Skruges

F Knickerbocker and Kelly Skruges plan a fishing trip starting tomorrow at Paint Rock for a few days. Knickerbocker promises to bring fish to the office, though doubts remain. Meanwhile, the new residences of RA Wetherell and Clymer will be completed today and the families will move in immediately.

Lovell Band To Furnish Music At Wyoming Fair

The Big Horn county fair promises record crowds with Lovell band supplying music for the fair and Lovell orchestra for the big dance. Features include many concessions, street attractions, nightly bowery dances, a civic and industrial parade, visits by Senator Warren and Senator Clark, Congressman Mondell and Governor Kendrick, improved grounds with electric lighting, new parking for 100 automobiles, expanded grandstand, a new ticket office, 100 new chairs, facilities for dairy, poultry, horses, and sheep, plus park-like grounds and oil-treated track.

Eight Recruits For Cheyenne Under Lieut Welch

Lieut John Welch left this week for Cheyenne with eighteen recruits he secured here in charge. He has been active in recruiting this past week and is making a fine record as an officer.
