Commissioners to Buy Machinery for County Roads

County commissioners plan to purchase road building machinery after inspecting options in Billings. Lovell businessman W. P. Hogarty of the Great Western Sugar Co. brings information on a $10,000 donation and a $9,000 county share for road work. A two mill road levy may raise about $18,000, all to stay within districts.

Burr and Morton Wed at Methodist Parsonage

The marriage of Chas F Burr and Rose Morton took place Friday at the Methodist parsonage in Worland. Rev Jones conducted a simple ceremony attended by two friends, after which the couple departed together. R H Ewart of Cody visited town Wednesday.

Women’s club plans gardening on Basin vacant lots

Members of the Woman's club move toward creating gardens on Basin vacant lots with support from the Chamber of Commerce and Live Wire club. A committee meeting discussed securing volunteers, obtaining owners' lists, and raising seeds and funding for plowing.

Committee to raise funds for plowing overseer project

Mr Gray and Mr Coons were appointed to a committee to raise money for plowing and to pay an overseer for his time. The plan promises great things if an overseer is in charge, allowing work to proceed in an up to date manner.

Anna Cook Bolduc and Leila Beat rice Masonheimer sue C. A. Zaring as executor of Josiah Cook and Nina May Cook plus Big Horn County Bank for relief. They claim Josiah Cook violated promises to his former wife Charlotte and left most property to Nina May Cook, leaving only 1000 and a diamond to Zaring. They seek instruments delivering clear title to the plaintiffs and are represented by E. E. Enterline, Thos. M. Hyder and LaFieiche & Diefenderfer.

Eklund Meetings Conclude in Basin With Packed Readings

Evangelist Eklund’s three week Basin campaign ended at the Rex theatre with packed crowds at all services. The final Sunday night drew the largest audience, with morning and afternoon sessions, and Kates of local interest highlighted by M F Newport remarks on saloon removal and mor al questions as Basin voters signaled support for reform candidates. Francis D Wootton led the volunteer choir and music, aiding the revival’s success. Dr Eklund left for Denver after the events, as Wootton planned further meetings in Shermanopolis.

Chamber of Commerce Elects New Officers and Directors

The chamber changes by laws to a 12 member board with three yearly terms. Three members start three, six, nine, and twelve month terms, including C A Zaring and others. County road improvements and federal building plan discussed

A county committee will oversee road work and push for a new federal building as soon as possible. Secretary Denny asks farmers with seed for sale to inform him so he can direct buyers, and he will seek to keep farmers and ranchers well supplied with labor. He welcomes suggestions for Basin and area and will bring them to the chamber for action.

W S Burt, long time Pennsylvania oil operator, accepted a post as general field superintendent for Consumers Oil Refining Co and will also oversee drilling for Big Horn Petroleum Co. His Basin, Montana, headquarters announced by J C Roberts. Arnott returned from a trip to eastern and northern Montana.

Death of Baby Curtis Perry Scovilleson

Last Sunday morning Curtis Perry Scovilleson, one year eleven months, died near Bonanza to the grief of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Scoville. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon and burial followed at the Basin area cemetery. Alton Wickwire of Hyattville attended a Rex theatre performance Tuesday night.

Wise to Operate Whitmore Jewelry Stock in Basin
