Fatal Knife Fight Near Kane Ends in Death

A fatal cutting affray occurred near Kane Saturday afternoon when Dell Drake, a Burlington foreman, stabbed J. J. Russell and then fatally wounded Joe Russell, who died at Greybull hospital Wednesday morning. Drake was bound over to the district court in $1,000 bonds after a Kane hearing. coroner’s inquest found Joe Russell died from a left lung knife wound inflicted as he fled Drake.

Russell Family Mourns as Funeral Held in Omaha

The remains were taken to Omaha for burial with a funeral party leaving Greybull at noon yesterday. The service will be led by Father Stetson at an Omaha undertaker, Heafey & Heafey, with interment in St. Mary’s cemetery, South Omaha, beside Mr Russell’s mother. Sheriff Wickwire apprehended Ed McDonald as he left the state with mortgaged property, then returned to Washakie county with the property.

Higby on the Fair at Douglas Amid State-County Cooperation

Anson Higby of Basin and state veterinarian Dr. Davie visited Sheridan to align with county fair officials for broader state fair support. Sheridan county will send displays to the Douglas fair, with rail lines offering reduced fall rates and a new agricultural hall and stables recently completed. The state fair runs Sept 2 30 and Oct 1 2 with racing shows planned from Montana Basin and Boulder.

Gaiety Club Dance At Fraternity Hall

Gaiety club gentlemen hosted a Friday night dance at Fraternity hall for the ladies of the club. Smith Bros. orchestra played well. Hall decor featured cut flowers roses and carnations. Luncheon served at 11 at Mrs J F Leighty home with hosts Mr and Mrs Wise and Mr and Mrs House chaperoning. George A Voorhies of Lusk Wyo arrived to seek land for cattle and assess suitable quarters for large cattle operations. He travels with Anson Higby and will survey the country and consider locating.
