Engineer Loses Fingers In Brick Plant Accident

Eugene Wilkinson, an engineer at the brick plant, lost the two middle fingers of his left hand after his hand was caught in a cog wheel while dealing with an elevator. He was brought to town, Dr. Smith dressed the injury, and he is recovering well.

Burlington to Run Daily Casper Billings Train Service

Word reaches the Press that Burlington will soon operate a daily passenger train between Casper Wyoming and Billings Montana with baggage mail car smoker chair cars and a Pullman. The schedule has Casper departure around 430 PM arriving Billings 630 PM. returning Billings 7 PM arriving Casper 9 AM for a 14 hour run. The change eases transfers between roads and benefits local riders. Under Sheriff Frank I Rue and My bride returned from Billings last Friday amid a welcome crowd. Rue has rented the Frank Herfort residence and will move in promptly.

Lucas Family Moves to Glendive for New Job

Alex Lucas departed Monday for Glendive Montana where he has secured a lucrative position in an abstract office. Mrs Lucas will follow early next week. Many Basin friends extend best wishes for prosperity in their new location.

Taylor Brothers Buy Large Ranch in Meeteeise Country

George and David Taylor purchase the 320 acre Alexander ranch on Spring Creek from T. W. Spratt. Although the price is not disclosed, it is described as a handsome sum for one of the region’s best ranch properties. The Taylors plan to stock the area with sheep.

Gould Leases Rogers House for Hotel Venture

RK A Gould closed a deal last Tuesday to lease the Rogers House from C A Mano. Gould took possession at once and will conduct the phlaon in the future. Known as affable and well suited for the hotel business, he is expected to achieve success. Alex Sanders of Burlington attended to business in town earlier this week.

Market letter reports cattle and hog price advances in Kansas City

Kansas City stock yards show strong week with 15 to 25 cent gains across cattle and calves. Receipts total 11,000, with steers steady to lower and hogs rising to a top of 8.80, while sheep and lambs gain 15 to 25 cents amid mixed last week trends.

High Hits at Fraternity Hall and Prep for May Meet

Last Friday night the high school presented Uncle Josh before a large audience at Fraternity Hall. The piano fund gains fifty dollars as crowd applause remains strong. Plans for the May 15 inter scholastic track meet and declamatory contest advance quickly. New athletic apparatus and a handsome championship cup have been ordered and will arrive soon. Letters were sent to Basin high schools inviting entries and local boys have been training at the fair grounds. The school spirit rises, and Hoover’s music chases draw a morning audience for practice sessions.

Baptist Church Announces Bible Study Course and Services

Baptist church lists services at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday School at 10 a.m. Prayer meeting at 8 p.m. Thursday. Highlights a Bible study on the First and Second Covenants begun April 8. An illustrated chart by the pastor accompanies the course and Wednesday evening lectures are open to attendees. Easter morning offered a free flower reed.

Library Opens New Carnegie Move to Al Pease Site

The Carnegie library has moved to the Al Pease building east of Mountain View. Mrs J L Denny the librarian will serve at usual hours including afternoons evenings and Sundays. The library welcomes inquiries and asks the public to inspect the reading tables. It promises more periodicals and magazines than many small libraries and seeks public cooperation for success.
