The town proposes a $60 000 bond issue to upgrade the municipal power plant with internal combustion gas engines and to expand and rework the water treatment facilities. Expected annual savings plus reduced taxes would offset costs, delivering purer water year round.
The council decided to defer improvements because bond market weakness required a roughly 15 percent discount on bonds. Now bonds sell at par or better, and the council plans to initiate the improvements.
Bruce Nowlin state game warden and Bliss Bayne chief deputy arrived from Cody to inspect the Basin fish hatchery. Nowlin left for Victor Idaho due to his father's illness. Bayne continued to Hyattville with Mr and Mrs P P Anderson and Mrs Wm Gibson.
W D Jones formerly of Yellowstone Motor Co in Yellowstone is leaving Tuesday to become traveler for Casper Auto Supply Co. He will base in Basin with a territory covering northern Wyoming and southern Montana. Bill is known as an excellent salesman and is expected to succeed in his new assignment.
The May term docket shows court sessions in Worland and Cody with naturalization days in Thermopolis, motions and demurrers, probate and open court cases scheduled from April 25 to May 22, including cases such as Gage vs C B Q R R and McKone vs McKone, plus a note on potential political activity for secretary of state.

William B. Kunkel and Ber Nice M. Young, both of Greybull, were married on Monday afternoon with Justice Bonwell presiding. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williamen of Greybull and will start housekeeping in Basin after the ceremony.
Articles of incorporation filed in Cheyenne reveal the Doman Oil and Refining Company, led by J. B. Doman of Rock Oak West Virginia, capitalized at 1 million dollars. Robin Bonwell named resident agent. operations planned in 52-91 and 52-92 areas near the Morris anticline with heavy oil prospects in Tensleep and Amsden formations.
Scouts from across the country will witness the spudding at Mercer as crews push toward a record time in finishing the hole. The operation signals drilling dozens of wells in the black oil structure along the Basin's east side.
Basin Lodge No 26 K of P will stage a social tonight at Fraternity hall with a large attendance expected. The Greybull five piece orchestra provides the music for the event.
Guerite Bancroft and a Carlson of Greybull were married at the Presbyterian manse last Monday with Rev. Leon A. Losey officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. E G Carlson, and Mr. and Mrs. Carlson attended the bridal party. Friends extend congratulations to the couple.
Dean Dixon led special services for the Knight Templars at 2 30 Sunday afternoon at the Episcopal church. Clifford Lenniger of Cody presided over the Knights whose march to the church was joined by local members. Five Cody cars could not travel the roads to participate.
Mrs. Bessie Leavitt arrived from Los Angeles and will spend the summer visiting Mrs. H. W. Murphy and friends in Basin. Leavitt, formerly a resident here, has hundreds of friends who will welcome her back to Basin.
A high school musical contest Wednesday chose Irene Bowling and Thelma Gould for piano and Irma Wright for vocal. Ruth Wickwire and Pearl Ellis also competed in vocal with Wright taking first place.
Ida M. Dutton died at the family home on South Fifth Street after a lingering illness. She was born September 30, 1877 in Indiana and moved with Henry Dutton to the Big Horn Basin years ago. Survived by husband and son Roy. funeral services were held at home officiated by Rev. Edwin Bowling and the body sent to Lenox Iowa for interment.
Stanley Inscho of Clearmont Wyoming is expected to arrive in Basin within days to take charge of Clyde W Atherly s office. He is a licensed engineer and highly recommended to carry out the work. Inscho will move his family and become a permanent resident. Basin residents plan a cordial welcome.
The Republicans of this section will hold a meeting here next Wednesday evening. W. B. Chaplin, secretary of state, will attend to discuss matters connected with the coming campaign.
The high school baseball boys sponsor a benefit dance tomorrow night urging the community to lend a helping hand for this worthy cause.
Lee Morris was held after a preliminary hearing before Justice Bonwell on the moonshine charge. Sheriff deputies testified about a raid on the Prindle property listing a still, five barrels of mash, and liquor found in a locked room. Morris boarded with Nora Payne and faced a bound over decision with bond set at $1000. he remained jailed for the next district court term.
J O Jones and William Jones filed a claim for 100 per acre damages for the Basin Manalerson road. Appraisers W F Unterzuber B L Warren and A H Griffin of Greybull met and reported to county commissioners assessing damages at 80. County to build cattle way and pay drainage. state to maintain drainage and wastewater system.
Three bootleggers appeared before Judge Metz on Monday and pleaded guilty to manufacturing and possessing liquor. Franci Bil and George Remmich of Lovell and Henry Ruff of Kane were each fined $200 and sentenced to 30 days in jail.
