Spencer Chosen State Republican Chairman in Cheyenne

The Republican State central committee elected Hon. P. C. Spencer chairman at the Plains hotel by acclamation after a single ballot, with candidates G. R. Hagens and A. D. Kelly also discussed. The meeting drew GOP leaders from across Wyoming as they discussed finances, a state budget, and future election prospects. Spencer, 80, is the youngest state party chair in Wyoming history.

Deputy Internal Revenue Appointment for Burlington Cashier

Deputy Collector B C Kimball, cashier at Burlington station, will assume the deputy internal revenue collector post with headquarters at Cheyenne. F P Anderson advised that Kimball’s appointment was recommended to Washington and should be confirmed within two weeks. The Basin family departs expectantly, but wish Mr Kimball success in his new role.

Mr and Mrs Harry J Hall of Powell arrived to make Basin home as cashier at Basin State Bank replacing Frank A Wise. Hall brings extensive banking experience from Powell Riverton and Riverton making him well qualified. Basin residents extend a cordial welcome.

Moonshiners at Lovell Captured in Raid Outcomes

Sheriff Wickwire deputy Lynnan and Marshal Alexander raided Lovell last Saturday. George Roenmich was arrested with 16 gallons mash and liquor. Frank Ell had 20 gallons mash and 8 quarts liquor. Both had preliminary hearings and pleaded guilty. awaiting Judge Metz for sentencing. Officers searched Kane for a still but could not locate it, promising further action.

Wyoming to Cut Freight Rates After Hearings

Party for Mrs Gingrich Held at Mrs Walker’s Home

Mesdames W. E. Larrick C. J. Rausch and M. B. Walker entertained at the latter’s home last Monday evening for Mrs. C. M. Gingrich in a surprise gathering. Four bridge tables filled the evening followed by exquisite refreshments. Mrs. Gingrich will move to Billings as Ohio offices relocate, a decision mourned by many Basin friends.

Arledge Pension Granted at 72 Dollars Monthly

Congressman Mandell secured a civilian pension for Alexander R. Arledge of Manderson. The Civil War veteran is now receiving 72 dollars per month, dating from November 2. Arledge is the father of Mrs. C R Nicholson of Greybull. Bazaar items and events accompany the notice.

Radio stock meeting at Triangle Club rooms

Those who signed up for stock in the Pioneer Radio Co. are to meet tomorrow evening at the Triangle Club rooms in the old stone school building. Dr. L. G. Van Slyke of Hyattville will speak on his experiences and discuss economical radio sets. The aim is to install a set soon so they can hear the big guns sing.

Woman's Club of Basin Holds April Meeting and Plans

The Woman's Club of Basin held its meeting on April 12 with President Mrs. R. G. Belton presiding. Officers discussed resignation of president Mrs. W. B. Hartigan, cooperation with prohibition officers, and advancing musical interest. A program for next year was approved and members assigned to plan a future party. The meeting featured student performances and wrapped with refreshments hosted by club members.

Operation A Success for Ed Young in Denver Hospital

Ed Young of Otto son of Mr. and Mrs. David Young underwent surgery in a Denver hospital last Thursday. One leg was amputated after a war injury from a poisoned shell could not be removed. He is reported recovering and may soon be discharged, with friends hoping for a return home.

Lewiston Chapter 16 Order of the Eastern Star held its annual meeting on Saturday April 8 led by Grand Matron Viola Mechling of Casper. Otto News Roundup Highlights Local Visits and Road Change

Mrs Pearl Sanders arrived in Otto to visit her folks Mr and Mrs David Young. Gilbert Devereaux of Manderson was an Otto visitor Sunday. David and Leroy Herricks were Otto visitors from Wednesday to Saturday. LeRoy who was in the dynamite explosion at Greybull is almost well again with the exception of the loss of one eye. E Erickson was a Greybull visitor last week. Englishs folks were Otto visitors last week. Mike Riley is now carrying the mail as roads are too muddy for the stage car.
