Judge Parmelee Molde presides as Judge C. H. Parmelee and Court Reporter Carter open a brief district session. Few cases will be disposed. no jury, due to expense. Several civil dispositions listed including foreclosures, judgments for plaintiffs, and a couple of parole reports. a statutory rape case results noted with plea of guilty and parole in abeyance.
A large turnout at the Antlers supper heard J B Thompson preside as discussion covered a Buffalo good roads convention rescheduling to June 7. The Flax Fibre company and Producers association aims to fund a grand prize for the best land show exhibit. A delegation of 50 from Tensleep area planned to travel by auto along the interstate route to the park, with mass meetings, subscriptions, and local fundraising urged to back the Tensleep to Johnson county line road.
Fred Perkins son of George Perkins of Otto was brought to Basin hospital with severe appendicitis. Dr. Carter operated yesterday and he is rapidly recovering this morning. Deputy County Clerk Alex Lucas received word of his father's death in Cement Oklo and left for the funeral. Lucas also is father of Mrs. Chas Tome. Judge Parmelee and Reporter Carter came from Cody to hold district court here this week.
Washington reports the Borah three year home stead bill remains uncertain as ultraconservatives seek to derail it with amendments. The measure narrowly survived in the House thanks to Mondell and a few western allies who placated others with sharp remarks.
C Wise has let the contract for a modern six room home at Sixth and South streets. Hime Brothers secured the building contract, guaranteeing quality material and workmanship. The new house will enhance the south town residence area. Josh Bilia and wife returned home from a visit with her parents near Rairden.
The town council met in regular session last Monday with Mayor Booth and Councilmen Barnes Higby and Zane present. Cross walk bids were deferred pending treasurer’s report on finances. Objections arose to the plumbers ordinance as drafted with council members and master plumbers opposing certain provisions. Higby urged an ordinance that aids home building, not adds costs. Fred Messer Frisby O Neil and Garfield Sherman voiced objections. meeting adjourned with continued discussion noted.
The Big Horn Producers Association district 3 will hold a meeting at the Carnegie Library next Saturday at 8 p m April 20. Members should report expected bean acreage to the secretary to gauge seed orders. A Montana Flax Fiber and Cordage Co representative will discuss a flax proposition. T. 2 Hunter, President. W. H. May, secretary.
Acting Chairmen Graham designated May 3 and 4 for hearings before the public lands committee on leasing public lands for grazing. Dates were set at Gifford Pinchot and others request, with Western witnesses expected to testify and potential direction on proposed legislation. Riley Kane of Tenaleep was stown this week en route home from Thermopolis springs.
New York reports claim more than 1500 feared dead as the Titanic, on her maiden voyage from Liverpool to New York, sank within four hours after striking an iceberg off the Newfoundland banks. Of about 2200 aboard, only 675 known to be saved. disaster deemed the greatest in marine history with comparisons to earlier tragedies.
The Daily for the Fair announces a return to a daily paper during the Big County Fair. It will publish a full program and offer advertising space for merchants who order in advance, after last year’s four-page daily limited by production constraints.
