Hundreds of Pelicans Alight on Daggett Highway
Daggett residents reported hundreds of white pelicans on the highway in front of Bob Campbell's store on Wednesday night. Eyewitnesses said seven thirty three large flocks landed from the south, some striking a telegraph pole guide wire. Birds weighed about eleven pounds with seven feet wingspans, and winds shifted from all directions as Barstow observers noted pelicans flying east at dusk.
