Fire Rips Through Berkeley Hills Destroys 60 Blocks
A severe brush fire sweeping from Contra Costa County burned through Berkeley's Croimmont and Euclid Avenue districts destroying at least 60 residences across about 66 blocks. No lives reported, though two students were seen plunging from a burning building as flames spread toward wealthier areas. UC Berkeley structures largely spared.
