In the city of Los Angeles 134 555 individual returns were filed, compared with 82 760 for 1922, a gain of 62.8 per cent, which will set a new record for the entire United States. In Los Angeles county 176 433 individual returns were filed as against 119 733 for 1922, an increase of 47.3 per cent. San Bernardino County came to the front with an increase of 44 per cent, according to the figures submitted to Washington by Rex B Goodwell, while Orange county recorded a gain of 22 per cent, and San Diego county advanced 712 per cent.
