Crowder Announces 181,830 Men To Be Called In October
Provost Marshal General Crowder says 181,830 men qualified for general service will be called to army camps before October 16. Quotas by state set. Of whom 142,000 are white and 39,830 are negroes in two entrainment groups. California will send 400 to Camp Lewis and 1,976 to Camp Kearny.

Judson Notes Visit by Goodhue Party at Orchard Ranch
W C Goodhue and wife with daughter from Oakland visited their orchard ranch opposite Helen station on September 16 1918 before returning north to settle an estate in which he has an interest. Mrs L C Chapman Judson postmistress fell ill from canned meat poisoning and was seriously ill two days but has fully recovered.
