Sixth grade presented a five cent minstrel show in the auditorium with all pupils participating. Donald Marvin led as interlocutor with Beverly Burke and Billy Stenberg as end men. Music, dancing, and jokes drew praise from teachers and attendees. The program will be repeated November six.

Narrow escape as switchman Russell narrowly survives collision
Switchman Russell faced a near-death moment Monday night when a train struck his car on the passenger tracks at the west end. The car was hurled against the switch, the door opened, and Russell escaped as wreckage and twisted iron showed how close he came to disaster. He had been awakened for a sleep-before-work call and had rushed to reach his post in twenty minutes.

Library Moves to Grammar School Addition

Blacksmith James Overton reported his Ford stolen from Barstow's garage Monday evening. Prospector Bailey saw two men with tires, wearing cowboy hats and boots, as pursuers traced tracks to the river bottom. Boot prints and a cap located near the engine suggest a hurried theft harried by pursuit.

Ford Stolen From Front Picture Show
A wheel and tire stolen from A Rizzardini’s Ford were found near Helendale by the owner who spotted the car with three young men by the roadside. The Dodge, with Indiana plates, had its wheel hidden in sagebrush after being removed to evade detection. The men admitted the theft and promised to return the wheel if not prosecuted.
