Passenger dies on train at Yermo on Bromidia poisoning
T. P. Brashearns of Berryville Arkansas died on a Union Pacific train at Yermo while en route to Arizona to help his tubercular wife. Coroner J. B. Hanna ruled Bromidia poisoning as the cause. Mrs Brashears, shocked by her husband’s death, was driven insane and admitted to San Bernardino county hospital. Interment for Brashears occurred in Barstow cemetery. he was 36 years old. Barstow wrecking crews were kept busy this week due to freight engines derailing at the Summit.

World War veteran dies at Daggett Ranch
Arthur Elton Hamilton, Los Angeles attorney and World War I veteran, died Monday afternoon at the Daggett ranch of B. A. Funk after being gassed and wounded in service. He served as a first lieutenant in the 188th Infantry. The body was prepared for burial and sent from Barstow Undertaking Parlors to Los Angeles.

Barstow Woman's Club opened its season with a Tuesday gathering at the Antler Club room. President Mrs E L White pledged support and new member Mrs John Chambers joined. Delegates were elected to the San Bernardino County Federation meeting in Ontario October 21 with Mrs E L Pitcher named as delegate. Sessions featured talks by A G Kendall Ralph Swing and Isaac Jones on issues for the November 4 election. Miss Eleanor Mills of Pasadena spoke on the legislator's point of view and Mrs John Urquhart attended from the California State Federation. Luncheon was at First Methodist Church Ontario.

Piltz Takes Long Lease On Barstow Cafe
