Santa Fe Opens Longest Double Track Across Southwest

The Santa Fe Coast Lines complete 350 miles of double tracking from Los Angeles to Chicago, excluding 120 miles near Winslow and Gallup. The $30,000,000 project adds 60 miles of new line near Laguna and 45 miles in the San Bernardino range, with final completion planned for 1925. Plans for further double tracking in Southern California, including 24 miles Los Angeles to Fullerton and 10 miles San Bernardino to Riverside, are announced without cost estimates.

Barstow Prepares For Big Friday Night Dance

Barstow residents and visitors from Victorville plan to attend an eight piece orchestra at Barstow auditorium this Friday night promising the best music and largest crowd yet. The hardwood floor is in excellent condition for dancing and the event draws guests from nearby towns. The following Friday October 31 the Antlers Club hosts a masquerade ball.

Santa Fe to Erect $700,000 Shops Unit in San Bernardino

The Santa Fe announces immediate erection of two ad ditional shop units at its San Bernardino facility at a cost of 700000. The contract goes to Robert E McKee of San Diego. The addition includes a 164 by 673 feet boilershop rising 45 feet, built in steel and reinforced concrete as part of a 1250000 yearly shop improvements and a 3000000 extension program at the location.

Record potato yield set in San Joaquin Delta field

The San Joaquin Delta in the Rindge tract below Stockton produced 57,752.75 pounds of Burbank potatoes on a measured acre, surpassing Britain's 53,760 pounds and the U S records of 692 bushels in Nevada and 700 in Maine, marking a world leading harvest for a single acre.
