Reconstruction aid reaches flood victims in Mississippi Valley
American Red Cross reports about 450000 people received reconstruction aid after the Mississippi Valley Flood. Over 2000000 acres of drowned farmland were reclaimed and replanted in fall crops. The relief agency rebuilt homes, supplied seeds and tools, and supervised sanitary measures. Five thousand portable cabins were erected to replace washed homes. September shows the valley still active with exhibits and community events at the grandstand.
