American Legion Rodeo Set For Armistice Day At Barstow
Griffith Post of the American Legion will stage a rodeo November 11 at the old ball park west of Barstow. Plan is for the largest event yet in the district with cowboys and cowgirls participating and bucking horses mules and steers to be ridden for the first Armistice Day. Hinkley News Beats and Local Visits Rally Day at Hinkley Sunday School
Gladys Potter Rural Supervisor spent the day with Hinkley school. Rally Day drew a good crowd to the Hinkley Sunday school program. Visitors included Mrs C D Raftery Miss Barbara and Master Dean. George Siemens ships a carload of hay to Needles. Ed Padgett and family moved to Barstow near work, renting Mr DeWolf's cottage. John Rich returned from an eastern trip. Marie Faye tripped on a wire injuring her mouth and teeth. Drs Graham and Chapin repaired them. Hinkley Chamber of Commerce enjoyed a lively meeting on Friday October 5. The Women’s Improvement Club reported telephones in Hinkley are assured. A committee will visit chambers and clubs to push State Road 58 paving from Bakersfield to the National Old Trails with full cooperation. Meeting night moved to the first Wednesday. Refreshments and games followed the business session. Citizens are invited to attend and share their views.
