Bradford Baby Killed by Street Car in Los Angeles

Russell Bradford three year old son of Mr and Mrs E R Bradford of Barstow was killed in Los Angeles on Venice boulevard near Hauser boulevard by an inbound Pacific Electric street car. The family was visiting at 1621 Elsinore street with Mrs Bradeen when the tragedy occurred as the boy stepped from the yard onto the tracks. Funeral services will be held in Los Angeles on Friday. Bradford worked as a third track telegraph operator at the Western Union office in Barstow.

Barstow Forms 20-30 Club At Rose Inn Meeting

A 20-30 Club was organized in Barstow this week at the Rose Inn. Ivor Davies led the 6:30 pm session with thirteen members present. Davies elected temporary president with Carl Jordan secretary and Americo Rizzardini treasurer. The group plans weekly Tuesday meetings with luncheon and discussions. Dillingham Bros Plan Move for Cottage Street Store

Dillingham Bros intend to relocate their current Cottage street store to Main street between Second and Third, remodeling with plate glass show windows and an stucco front. A basement 40 by 60 feet will be built, with excavation in progress. The 48 by 60 foot building will sit about three feet east of Barstow Bakery, and a driveway will let freight be hauled in by truck.

Plans Ready for New Mitchell Garage

Reports from the Printer office state plans are completed for Charles Mitchells new garage on Main Street at Seventh. Financing is arranged, bids are being sought, and construction will begin soon. The brick and stucco fronted building is expected to be an attractive asset to the east end of Main Street.

Mr and Mrs Ira Taylor owners of Barstow Furniture Company plan to erect a two story cement building on the current site. They state the present quarters are too small to display their large stock and they aim to add lines not presently possible due to space. The Taylors have built a strong business in the district and likely hold the largest stock on the desert.

Aviation Landing Field Feasibility Praised by Chamber

The committee on aviation from the local Chamber of Commerce visited Chas Williams field south of Main Street near First and reported the site feasible for a municipal field. The favorable assessment supports plans to convert the area into a public airport.

New Lead Mine East of Barstow Attracts Investment

Three miles east of Barstow a new lead mine is being developed, with a small mill planned by Los Angeles interests. Smith & Parks originally owned the property, Henderson & Nicklin arranged the transfer, and the mine lies one mile east of an old Mormon property.
