International Pacific Highway Congress Meeting In Barstow
The International Pacific Highway Congress promoted by the Automobile Club of Southern California will meet in Los Angeles October 15 to 25 to plan a cross Mexico highway. About 30 to 40 Mexican delegates, including state governors and federal officials, will attend. Five days will feature highway inspections in Southern California with road machinery demonstrations. C E McStay arranged a Barstow stop October 19 and 20 for about fifty attendees, with Barstow hosts Beacon Tavern and Cafe handling arrangements. The group will arrive around 7 p m and spend the next day inspecting the Barstow to Needles highway before a return visit.

Highway Accident Wrecks Automobile Near Barstow
Kingsley of Oakland driving a Paige coach overturned fifty miles east of Barstow when a tire blew out late Wednesday night. An elderly traveler and a Martinez friend escaped with minor injuries after the crash damaged the auto. They salvaged the wreck and drove to Barstow to sell the car.

Auto Turned Over Occupants In Hospital
A rock on a highway near Daggett caused a serious crash when a Ford containing Timothy Beach Sanford Beach Byron Beach Edna and Ethel and driver Jess R Redman struck it. Timothy Beach, 72, had his right foot amputated and faces likely death. Sanford Beach, 40s, suffered a broken shoulder. the children of 7 and 18 19 years old endured scratches and bruises. The group was en route to Minneapolis to visit Mrs Beach who is seriously ill.

Tourist Gets Himself In Jail At Vermo
Walter White of San Francisco, 38, refused to pay for gasoline at a filling station. Constable Tom Williams arrested him. A car search found assorted items likely stolen, including coats, dresses, radios, leather goods, wigs, and blankets. He was taken to Barstow with a traveling companion claiming to be his wife. Judge Henderson found his answers unsatisfactory. White claimed Utah as home after two to three months in San Francisco, said he had $20 to $25, and noted several expensive possessions on hand. He was sent to San Bernardino for Sheriff Shay to check his record. a Mann Act charge may be filed.

Four Youths Arrested After Gas Station Robbery Attempt
In 1921 near Barstow, four men Russell Ross Fred Capone Chas Whinery and Lindsey Thresh stole a car after attempting to gas up. They forced proprietor H S Jay from the vehicle and took his revolver, later leading to a chase and capture by Constable Harris. Bonds set at 1000 each. preliminary hearing scheduled for October 9.
