Warning To Watch Your Shot On Highway Rabbit Hunters

Local residents report reckless hunting from autos on the highway north of town. A coupe fired from a 22 or 32 rifle toward the Irvin Lillie home, breaking a dining room window and lodging in the wall. No one was hurt though guests were present. Children in the yard are exposed to danger from careless shooters.

Mr and Mrs Ed Harris and Joyce spent Sunday in Los Angeles. Julian Smith has been off duty the past week with the previous cold. Arthur O Jungkins is again in Barstow after several months absence. A C Nabers who has managed Coca Cola Bottling Works will leave Saturday for San Bernardino where he will reside during the winter. Charles Reet of Silver Lake was a Barstow visitor Tuesday with Mrs Brown who met her son Carl Brown and family who arrived at the Barstow garage in Barstow about the same time. Murphy, formerly of Barstow, now on the Los Angeles police force, sent regards to Barstow friends. A L Doran and A A True were business visitors in the county seat Monday. True visited friends in Highland while Doran attended the Board of Supervisors.

Stolen Ford Recovered After Navy Deserters Apprehended

A Ford owned by John Tierney and driven by Jimmie McKinley was stolen Sunday night by two navy deserters. They were chased to Grey's service station two miles east of town and captured. The suspects, George Nelson and Allen Brunehler, were taken to San Bernardino jail and will face trial for theft. Candidate for Governor Buried at Sanger

Joint funeral services were held in Fresno for W. D. Mitchell and his daughter Merle. W. D. Mitchell previously sought the Republican nomination for governor. The father died of pneumonia in Leavenworth Kansas and the daughter died three days later in Hollywood California while serving as assistant secretary to Cecil DeMille.
