Highway Officials Inspect District Roads in Barstow Visit

James W. Cole highway commissioner and assistant Ralph Motherspan survey the First Supervisorial district for A. L. Doran. They report Barstow to Rand and Trona roads in good condition after recent county work including smoothing wash-board ripples on the power line route from Barstow to Randsburg. They note 40 miles from Baker to the state line surfaced with gravel, cutting about 18 miles from Baker to Shoshone, with improvements pending rain. Next week a Needles trip may include Doran.

An employee at Barstow Laundry fled to Bakersfield with cash laundry and a suit not his. C P F Arends gave him a lift to Hinkley where Canfield learned of the theft. They chased toward Hinkley but the man took a freight to Bakersfield. He later returned to Barstow, pleaded guilty before Judge Henderson.
