Freshmen held their first annual ball November 18 with masked guests and festive decor. Prizes were awarded for costumes, and punch greeted attendees. A basketball game November 19 at Barstow saw Victorville High edge Barstow early, then pull ahead to 17 to 10 in the fourth quarter amid praised sportsmanship. A rally, a change in the Roman program, and joint Athenians Romans plans followed, with leadership by Berthell Turner and a note of upcoming events.

Weinie roast for Harriet Lazenby’s school friends at Lazenby ranch
Harriet Lazenby hosted forty school friends at her parents ranch north of town on the 16th with Bauer's truck shuttling attendees. A large roasting pit, Dinty Moore presiding as chief coach, and Fred Bauer serving hot dogs in old Coney Island style drew a big, safe, festive crowd with games, races, songs, and a bonfire for warmth.
