Randburg mining strike proves steadfast Hicks claim prevail
John Hicks and family defied early discouragement at the Hicks claim near Randburg, sinking to 155 to 160 feet and opening a rich in place ore ledge after leasing from Kelly Nosser Combs and Williams. The Ruby ore rich prospect reflects strong long term effort amid harsh finances and weather.
Silver Bow Silver Mine Developments Near Daggett
Samples of ore showing an USSA of 110.00 to the ton were brought to the Printer Office by Tuncheon of Daggett. The ore is from the 125 foot level of the Silver Bow mine eight miles south of Daggett in the old Calico district. The mine is owned by W B Werner and Mr Wilber of Daggett who have state railroad commission authorization to issue stock up to 50000. Six men work as the shaft reaches 175 feet in a rich ore body. Three cars of ore were shipped to the smelter recently and prospects suggest a Calico boom renewed.

Pacific Coast rule bars transfer players at USC
Long Beach Wish star Phil Tiernan faced ineligibility after transferring during a semester and moving among schools. USC's athletic council adopted PC rules to govern all varsity sports, barring Tiernan and others like Morgan Cox and Don Odell from Trojans teams. Officials blame northern jealousy for keeping USC out of the Pacific Coast Conference. Tiernan was among the top freshmen football players in the state.

Smelters Seek Ore in Rebound Market Conditions
The Salt Lake Mining Review notes a favorable shift for producers as smelters show appetite for desirable ores. Copper prices have cut tonnage to half, lead silver ores down to about 70 percent of fall 1919 levels, yet smelters aid capacity by cutting treatment charges. R H Officer & Co. backs this advice urging shippers to inquire now and sell while demand is strong.
