Tips to motorists about car maintenance basics
A squeak can lead to costly repairs as a worn fan belt speeds belt wear and reduces engine cooling. Keep grease and oil off the fan belt to protect the belt and crank case oil, and prevent breakdowns.
Car maintenance advice on preventing squeaks and rattles
When a car is clean and the chassis is cleaned it is wise to check all nuts and bolts. Doing this regularly eliminates many squeaks and rattles and keeps the vehicle in good running order.
Maintenance Habits For Vehicle Oil And Brakes
Readings on the oil gauge amp meter and crankcase level should be monitored routinely as low oil or distilled battery water can go unnoticed and oil pressure may need adjustment. Squeaking brakes may indicate worn lining or exposed rivets requiring inspection to prevent drum scoring and increased lining costs.
Radiator Cleaning Tip for Periodic Flushing and Scale Removal
A practical note advises flushing radiators at least every 60 days to remove rust and scale. When scale forms inside the radiator and water jackets, use a washing or baking soda solution to cut the scale, stop leaks, and ensure thorough flushing until the water runs clear.
