Switeman Injured in Fall From Box Car
William Devaney switchman suffered a bad injury Tuesday when he fell from a box car in local yards. Dr. Graham treated him and he was sent to Los Angeles Santa Fe hospital on car 21, accompanied by Mrs. B. F. Gouldin. Trainmen intended to loosen cars but a jerk threw him to the ground. Mrs. Devaney and children are en route home from an eastern visit.

Funeral services for D. Walter Evans deputy county assessor for 18 years, who died suddenly at home in San Bernardino, were held Wednesday at 2 PM in the Mark B. Shaw memorial chapel. Mrs. B. W. Pioneer Cemetery rites were by John Henderson. Born May 11 1858 in Independence Rock Wyoming she endured frontier hardship and lived among pioneers guiding the community.

Boy Dies En Route to Hospital Along Train Route
Patricks Pearce eight year old son of Mr and Mrs L L Pearce of Goodsprings Nevada died on a train enroute to Los Angeles last Saturday evening. Mrs Pearce accompanied him. a Las Vegas physician had advised surgery. The body arrived in Barstow, was cared for by Barstow undertakers, and shipped to Las Vegas for burial at Cherry Creek, the family’s old home.
