Switeman Injured in Fall From Box Car

William Devaney switchman suffered a bad injury Tuesday when he fell from a box car in local yards. Dr. Graham treated him and he was sent to Los Angeles Santa Fe hospital on car 21, accompanied by Mrs. B. F. Gouldin. Trainmen intended to loosen cars but a jerk threw him to the ground. Mrs. Devaney and children are en route home from an eastern visit.

Mother of Local Merchant Dies in Pasadena

Mrs. Emma Pendleton, mother of local merchant A. H. Pendleton, died at home 13738 Oxford Ave Pasadena after years of ill health. A California resident for sixty years, she came from Texas at age seven and lived in Downey Pomona. Popular Deputy Assessor Evans Laid To Rest

Funeral services for D. Walter Evans deputy county assessor for 18 years, who died suddenly at home in San Bernardino, were held Wednesday at 2 PM in the Mark B. Shaw memorial chapel. Mrs. B. W. Cruickshank led the service with vocal numbers by Mrs. Lareld Carson. Pallbearers included J. C. Preston and Herman Meyer. honorary pallbearers listed. The body was cremated at Mountain cemetery.

Rebecca Cattain Wixom known as Aunt Becky died at her daughter's home in San Bernardino. Funeral services were led by Rev. Isaac McRae and elder BH. Liams. Pioneer Cemetery rites were by John Henderson. Born May 11 1858 in Independence Rock Wyoming she endured frontier hardship and lived among pioneers guiding the community.

A Hallowe en party was held at Elizabeth and Freder ick Shuckhart’s home on Wednesday night. Union Pacific announces a new East Los Angeles passenger station at Atlantic Boulevard and Telegraph Road with a parlor car bus service to communities east of Los Angeles. Nurse Dalman Case Dismissed for Lack of Evidence

The case against Tekla Dalman known as Nurse was dismissed after witnesses failed to support the charge of practicing medicine without a license. The death of Mrs Concepcion de Alonzo followed childbirth three weeks earlier, with a post mortem citing a venereal abscess. The court noted no defense witnesses and questioned medical trust motives. Funeral rites were held in Barstow for Mrs Alonzo.

Patricks Pearce eight year old son of Mr and Mrs L L Pearce of Goodsprings Nevada died on a train enroute to Los Angeles last Saturday evening.
