A Joy Party from San Bernardino led by Mrs. Logan and daughter Miss Elgin Logan and Miss Iva Leeny visited Barstow for a Halloween masquerade. Guided by Dick Burns the Buick expert driver they covered the San Bernardino Barstow road in 3½ hours with a 30 minute stop at Victorville. They were hosted by Mrs. Geo Deskins and Mrs. W H Deskins. G D Osburg joined the return to spend a week with Mr. and Mrs. G H Leeney.

A Barstow Halloween ball at Sloan and Hart’s hall drew revelers from Otis Daggett San Bernardino and nearby towns. The masked event ran from 8 pm to 2 am with an orchestra and prizes for best sustained character prettiest costume and consolation honor. Notable costumes included Columbia Uncle Sam Martha Washington and a Turk.

John Denair writes on October 31 that he is building a railroad from Blythe Junction on the Santa Fe Phoenix cut-off to Blythe at the head of the Palo Verde Valley. He touts 125000 acres of prime alfalfa and cotton land with Colorado River water and the Blythe estate water right as the oldest in California.
