Letters from J T Auchinachie and Lubin J Henderson express views on a straw ballot for supervisor and decline candidacy. Auchinachie supports the idea and offers to appear on the ballot. Henderson refuses a supervisor bid citing time and pay constraints and the burden of serving two masters.
Assessor J. C. DeSpain reports from Barstow after an Equalization meeting that the district’s assessed value exceeds 18 million dollars based on one third value, not counting railroad properties. He notes the east side’s valuation tops 6 million and argues for county division to sustain local governance.

A Saturday cloudburst at Minneola damaged property extensively. Irrigation land must be reworked, Dr. Stau ter’s well filled, engine buried, and Newberry roads washed with water one to five feet deep. Crops suffered hail and rain damage. Local notices mention a Woman’s Club hall and a new office for D D Connell. Bob Wilson resigns as chief irrigator at Van Dyke ranch.
Barstow Theatre presents four reels of new motion pictures with shows on Tuesday Thursday Saturday and Sunday. A piano and drum act by Miss Templeton and Mrs K C Lee perform after the Saturday screening under manager Mrs. K C Lee.
J B Grotevant of Chatsworth visits sister Mrs G C Compton. Geo Scherrer and Milton Coy surveyors work with north side ranchers. EK A Stephens tests Mohave Valley wells near Todd counting on large alfalfa plantings. M J Smith selects a river valley road route at Judson. Gates to be abolished. Miss A Maude McNally of Associated Charities Los Angeles visits Mrs E L Pitcher. Frank Kitten and wife take baby to coast to avoid heat. Mr and Mrs Barrett to return. Al McRae inspects cement block and offers Mrs Fletcher an option on upper floor for a rooming house. Mr and Mrs E H Goodwin plan to reside in Needles. Violinists Miss Goodwin departs. she keeps classes in Barstow and Victorville. They take a short beach vacation. Mrs J L Stuchberry spends days in San Bernardino. Jim inherits $1000 from mother's death, but whereabouts unknown.
