The Richard Griffith Post of the American Legion, with members from Yermo Ludlow Daggett Barstow and nearby towns, held a Fourth of July celebration in Barstow. A 12:30 parade ended at Second and Main with the Memorial monument dedication. Rev McRae spoke, and parade units including the 20 30 Club and decorated cars attracted large crowds. Barstow beat Victorville 5 to 3 in baseball in the afternoon. Evening boxing matches fireworks on the hill and a printer office area ball game and dance closed the day.
