Ralph Dean and Maude Loomis visited Dean’s father J. K. Loomis. Iaomis brought lumber for a new home, then a truck overturn on a Barstow hill injuring Loomis’ shoulder. Neal Weeber returned home for the weekend on a new motorcycle. The tank gang remains at Hodge. W. Elsholz is recuperating after a major operation at the hospital. Amy Wieber is out sick with tonsillitis.

Barstow Narrowly Escapes Cajon Grade Crash
Jimmie Overton a Barstow garage blacksmith and T G Higgins escaped deaths when their Ford coupe was rear ended by a truck on the Cajon grade pushing it over the cliff. They leaped as the car plunged three hundred feet and burned. The truck driver fled and license number was not obtained. Mine interest grows as outsiders visit Calico Gold Run New Borax and Aivord districts amid renewed activity and development talk.

Barstow PTA Reports Profits And Planned Purchases
The Barstow Parent Teacher Association met on Tuesday January 4 and shared its financials. Beginning balance 65.83, 19 collected from dues, profits from several events totaling 197.78. Expenditures include grammar school moving picture machine insurance 20, tuning pianos 9, wiring kit chen grounds 18.54, moving pictures high school 36.75, total 89.29, leaving 108.49 plus about 75 from Chevrolet raffle.
