Barstow Switchman Dies in Las Vegas

Word came from Barstow on Monday that W. L. McGraw died in Las Vegas Nevada after his health failed for years. He and his wife had moved to Las Vegas for his health and he had been bedfast these weeks. Funeral services will be held at 2 30 Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was employed in Barstow for several years as a switchman and many friends regret his untimely passing.

Hasert Turkeys For Los Angeles

Jim Seamon returns from Stanford College to stay over vacation. He and his father shipped 1200 pounds of turkeys by truck for the Los Angeles market, paid sixty cents a pound. The family says the birds are fat and in fine condition and buyers will get full measure. They will spend Christmas in Los Angeles.

Fisher Orchestra Here Saturday Night Dance in Barstow

Fisher's orchestra will play a Barstow dance at the Barstow Auditorium on Saturday night. He promises a gift for the best old time waltzers, drawing local dancers and crowd to the event.

Fire siren at 8 15 p m drew attention to a blaze at the home of Mr and Mrs J A Which in Barstow The roof construction and faulty flue caused smoke and soot but water kept the fire from spreading The pair escaped with most possessions intact and are grateful for their home built in 1884, one of Barstow’s first houses.

Argument Leads Employes 10 Jail

Saturday morning E. J. Coal who worked spotting trucks with Seaburg hit the later party for a morning of altercation. Cooksie and Seaburg had feelings for sometime and after a ringing of wrangling Cooksie took a gun out of one of the trucks and fired at Seaburg over the head, approaching from the right side. Seaburg is unable to see from right eye. Seaburg fell to the ground by the blow. Fellet took Cooksie away and he placed in jail. He appeared before Judge Henderson, who held him to Superior Court one for $500 on a felony charge, Seaburg yet to work today.

Dr De Lautour visits Camp Rock mining property near Daggett, now Camp Rock Mining Co under Nevada law. The venture has upgraded machinery, an amalgamator, a water haul system, and a 300 foot drill drive for a reliable water supply as officials including B Byrn Manning Kruzenstein and Col Sullivan tour the site.

On Christmas eve a community event with Santa gifts and music by the Barstow band is planned. Selections will be heard outdoors, with an indoor program at the grammar school auditorium featuring a Sun-Y school performance. Killed by Train on Tecopa Line in Ludlow

Jack Baker thirty, employee of Inyo County Road Highway Commission, died in Ludlow after a Tonopah and Tidewater freight collision injured him Saturday. His left leg was amputated in Ludlow by Dr A C Pratt but he died early Monday. Baker was en route to Tecopa mine and burial was held in Barstow with Rev McRae officiating. He reportedly had a brother in Tennessee.

Lewis Family Establishing Home on Highway in Desert

Mr and Mrs I C Lewis visited Barstow on Tuesday en route to a forty acre tract they will settle as their new home. The couple, from San Bernardino, have long hauled vegetables to Amboy and other desert towns and plan to improve their property along National Old Rails 70 miles east of Barstow.
