The high school music department has two cornets, two trombones, a clarinet, two saxophones, drums, a sousaphone, melophone, banjo, two violins and pianos. Night school adds a second teacher, Mr Pearce, to lead the advanced class as two additional classes receive books.
The sudden influenza linked death of Henry Deschler shocked the community where he resided. A Catholic service is planned at 9:30 Friday with later train 21 to Los Angeles for interment in a Catholic cemetery. He would have turned fourteen next April 28 and was a High School freshman. He is survived by his mother Bertha Deschiler and an aunt Mary Templeton of Barstow alongside many school friends.
William Reed foreman for the Southern Sierras Power Co. supervises Riverside crews expanding an extension line to the J. D. Barry ranch in Ilinkley and installing a 50 KVA transformer for heating and lighting in Barstow. The project adds 87 12 KVA for the business district, signaling strong electrical growth since the district moved.
Willys Knight driven by E L White crashes into Interstate Telephone office for the second time this year. The car rolled from the hill behind Wiice and Flatt Drug Store and punched a hole in the wall, with steel reinforcement preventing total wall damage. Workman Mr King was inside but unharmed.
Friday evening at 8 p m the townwide Boy Scout gathering will be held at the school auditorium for boys welfare. Mr. Walker head of the movement attends with eight advanced scouts to give a demonstration.
The annual staff lists include Bernice White as Editor in Chief and Joe Chambers as Business Manager among others. A December 23 program by the music department features Carols and solos led by the Girl's and Boy's Glee Clubs, with audience participation and instrumental accompaniment. The high school faculty will host a Christmas dinner at Miss Paxton's home on December 19, with each member supplying a course.
Mr and Mrs Shale and Mr and Mrs Paul Sullivan were business visitors in Los Angeles this week. Harry Voisey, recently moved to Barstow, completed a well on his property. BE M Haws plans a deep well on his ranch. Mrs A R Meek and Mrs C B Crooks spent Saturday in San Bernardino.
Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Szuszkevish plan to move to Los Angeles on the first of the year. He is better known as Teddy the baker at Fred Harvey's, where he has worked for about ten years. He was married this year to Miss Kathryn E. Tugegle.
Mrs W A Crawford left Saturday for her Portland Oregon home after a two month visit with her daughter Mrs George Henderson and family.
Robert White returns home for the holiday weekend driving from Los Angeles in a new Furq Coupe while attending school there. C.8. Crooks, Arthur Bireli and A. C. Meikle visited the Masonic lodge in San Bernardino on Monday, as the area near Cajon grows many Masonic members, a lodge will soon open in Victorville.
Al Mudgelt proprietor of the Bar stow Creamery is confined to his home due to a severe attack of rheumatism and neuritis.
Mr and Mrs Steve Vihel will spend Christmas holidays in Gerome Arizona with relatives. Miss Arnett niece of Mrs Geo Drumm is working in the Bank in Mrs Vihel place during her absence.
The Barstow Rifle Club will meet in the Shop Crafts Hall on Tuesday December 15 at 7 30 p m to elect officers and take up important business. The Shop Craft's Hall is north of A T C and 8S F store house.
F Montellier and his son, operators of Desert Sales Co. at Johannesburg, visited Barstow. The firm distributes the Glassmobile light year round glass curtains, popular for open cars and quick installation. Watch next week's Printer for the advertisement.
A new class of young women will enter the Nurse School at the County Hospital on January 3. Applications are now being considered. The course is open to young women who have had at least two years of High School education or its equivalent, and who are eighteen years of age. New class es are taken in every four months, January, May and September.
A. G. Tuckr assistant district manager and Marc Wilson, representing Richfield interests, visited Barstow on Wednesday. Arrangements were made to stock Richfield products at the National Old Trail Service Station in the district.
Joseph Willett, son of Mr and Mrs W P Willett, arrives Sunday from Seattle to attend high school. After hours he will bake at Crystal Cafe, which his parents partly own. He has three years of experience in the baking business.
Ray Sperry, an electrician with J. Force Edwards, fell from a joist at the Lillian Jones Store and lay unconscious on the floor. He was carried to Hotel San Gorgonia, with Dr. Benson reporting no broken bones. Sperry improved to rest at Hotel Melrose and hoped to be out in a few days.
Fourteen colleges and universities will compete in the East versus West football game at Ewing Field on December 26 for the San Francisco Shriners Hospital. Eastern players depart Chicago December 20 and will be hosted by Chicago Shriners. Islam Temple plans a Sacramento delegation and a 500 strong procession to City Hall where Mayor James Rolph Jr will present the football used in the Gridiron Classic.

Mrs J F Allen and her son Jack left for Highland to establish their future home. Conductor J F Allen is on a Santa Fe work train. Mrs Allen will stay temporarily with her sister in law Mrs O A Davis while settling in Highland.
Will H. Marsh, chief of the Division of Motor Vehicles, announced that California has the lowest motor vehicle license fees in the nation except for the District of Columbia. The average fee is $5.80, with Oregon averaging $24.90. California charges a flat $3 for passenger cars, but weight fees on commercial vehicles raise the average. Next year a law amendment will let commercial vehicle owners register on reduced rates for the remaining months of the year.
A brief plea urges readers to renew with a $2.00 subscription payment as a Christmas present to the Barstow Printer, thanking supporters and highlighting the goodwill of timely dues.
Lead Mountain Mining company plans a Simpson Floatation plant start by January 15 1926 in Barstow. The pilot plant features a 150 ton standard ball mill a No 3 Gates cluster and 26 H P Western Gas engine with a 35000 gallon water tank. Estimated 100 miners employed by spring with payroll $20000 to $25000 monthly.
San Bernardino lodge Elks plan a special train to Barstow in late January to initiate new members of No 836. Afterward a dance will welcome the ladies. Elks band to play for parade and festivities in the auditorium. Candidates from Yerma and Barstow expected to ride the goat. Also Antler's Club hosts a New Year’s Eve Hard Times Dance with a five dollar prize for best costume.
St Josephs Church schedules Christmas midnight service at 11 45 with a sermon. Mass is at 10 00 a m on December 25 and 8 30 a m on January 1 both with English sermons. A Spanish language Mass with sermon is also noted. Mr and Mrs E M Kinsllow traveled to Los Angeles returning with Mrs Kin lows mother and her sister in Long Beach over the holidays.
Mrs F K Lobaugh returned Wednesday from Los Angeles where she had been visiting May Soules formerly of Barstow.
