Barstow High defeated Victorville 28 to 18 in the season opener. Barstow's Kerr Gliebe Topping Melton Wetenhall started. Stotwell substituted for Kerr in the third quarter. Wetenhall shifted to center late, with Serrano and Upton subbing for Melton and Gliebe. Referee Arthur Schaefer officiated. next game is January 14 at Victorville.

Boy Scouts Hold Campfire Hike and Crowning Stunts
Last Friday night the Boy Scouts led by Scout Master Mosier held an open-air meeting at Little Buzzard after a hike. Patrols performed stunts, with Patrol No 1 praised as potential moviemakers for their panorama, Patrol No 2 for Indian scouts and sheriffs, Patrol No 3 for the troop paper, and Patrol No 4 for a circus elephant act. A whittling contest won by Floyd Carr featured a distinctive three-finger grip sign. The meeting closed with a note of thanks to leaders Meyers and Ceier and plans announced for Kiwanis Club guest night on Thursday the 28th with a First Aid demonstration.

Santa Fe Overlands Collision at Ashfork Injures Engineer
Scores of passengers were frightened but not seriously hurt in a collision between Santa Fe No. 2 Navajo and No. 10 Scout at Ashfork Arizona on a Tuesday morning. Engineer George Bardin on the Navajo suffered severe bruises as the Scout waited on a siding to pick up Phoenix sleepers. The Navajo reportedly crashed into the Scout from the rear after the Scout opened a switch. Several coaches were badly damaged.

F. A. Farrington returned from a Redlands scholarship convention when his Maxwell touring car was damaged by a trailer swinging out to pass.
