Barstow Chamber Holds Yearend Meeting and Discusses Water
The Barstow Chamber of Commerce held its last meeting of the year at the Antlers Club with nineteen attendees. They discussed Imperial Utilities plans to move an ice plant near the Mexican Settlement and opposed wells west of the Harvey House, urging wells above the dyke by the railroad bridge for safer water. A committee was formed to seek a hearing with the water company.

He drove the Buick toward Barstow, engine stalled near Goffs, then abandoned it. Sheriff Mahoney and Chief Brown visited Barstow on an investigating trip tied to a recent Kingman murder.

The route now handles expected heavy winter travel as the northern Lincoln highway connection is closed making Arrowhead the sole California entry.

Couple to Move Into New Home This Week
The Greers expect to move into their new home this week. The Athletic club held a very successful dance Saturday night with Bet Howell and Miss Louise of Barstow winning one of the prizes in the spot dances. Mrs. Leslie Williams of Yermo has a new Oakland sedan and Mr. Morrison of Yer mo, a section foreman, enjoys a new Ford coupe. Joe McCue and Jank Ryerse, who lost their ice plant and meat shop in Daggett by fire, will erect a small galvanized building in Daggett and deliver meat and ice daily from Yermo. No meat will be kept in Daggett. The fire, reported due to a telephone misunderstanding, destroyed Ryerse’s grocery and general department store around 11:15 p m, apparently set as the ground was ablaze. Frank Ryerse lost his Chevrolet. the delivery truck was moved and saved. Ryerse had not been in the building since eight o'clock.
