One Dead in Wrecking Jealousy Shooting in Vermo
R W Hunt of Vermo shot Bill Fountain through the lungs and wounded his wife in a late Thursday evening affray after estrangement. Hunt killed himself with four shots to the abdomen as his wife returned with a revolver. They were placed on a Union Pacific train to San Bernardino for treatment. Hunt, 42, had run a restaurant in Vermo with his wife who had lived with friends recently. He reportedly threatened to kill four people and may have targeted Mrs Gaylor.

Miss Violet Gifford to spend Christmas at home in San Francisco
Miss Violet Gifford, teacher at Hodge school in Mojave Valley, will take Christmas vacation in San Francisco. She has sixteen pupils, all grades but the sixth. She leaves Friday night and returns January 6. A Christmas program at the Hodge school house Friday at 7:30 features two short plays Santa's Shop and Stranger Child with songs and recitations. Zenda Mine Reopens With Full Crew After Flood
A full crew, over sixty men, are again employed at the Zenda mine in Calico after a water flood caused a short shutdown. Mr. Kasser, former Zenda president and now director, and Mr. Mott of Carlton and Mott New York visited the mine earlier this week. Mr. Mott came from Jerome Arizona where he completed a deal on Calumet and Arizona properties valued at over half a million dollars.

Uncle Bob McVicar Enjoys First Airplane Ride At Barstow
Mr. Robert McVicar affectionately known as Uncle Bob, nearly 85, rode in a Barstow airplane piloted by Claude Long of Angel School of Aviation. He circled the city, recalling canoe balance in his youth and praising thrills on Ottawa River rapids. A timberworker for 30 years, he once helped haul large 350 mile lumber rafts down the Ottawa to Quebec, built from 100 cribs of 26 logs each. Now 12 years in California, four in Barstow, his vigor and white hair reflect his outdoor life.
